Very cute!

Full disclosure here; I do NOT like romance books and I never listen to them. However, Bill Nevitt is such a top notch voice actor that I'm thrilled to listen to anything he narrates, so I plunged in! It was actually quite pleasant. The love story aspect was sweet, without being too syrupy! It was realistic attraction between grown ups. The thriller part of the book was also enjoyable. I especially appreciated the fact that Beth was a kick-ass female who's perfectly capable of taking care of herself. She chose to allow Donovan to help her, but it was very clear she was able to function and fight off attackers independently. The ending of Seismic Crimes leaves you hankering after book 3, which I understand is called Tsunami Crimes, (Beth and Donovan have lots of things going for them, unfortunately 'luck' isn't one of them), and as book 2 kept my interest and the third book is also narrated by Bill Nevitt, I think I'll be treating myself to it. I haven't listened to book 1, and I don't feel it impacted on my enjoyment, it was a clear story line, and anyway, it's not narrated by Bill Nevitt so I probably won't bother with it. It was nearly 8 hours of pure escapism, which I'm happy to recommend.

crime and disaster

This listen was a real mixed bag for me. Firstly the story is good and the characters are well written and full. However I felt the story lost is purpose and was overshadowed by the romance between the main characters. Whilst I liked the romance I found the frequent sexual content a bit uncomfortable, I'm all for a good dollop of 50 shades, however whenever the main character describes/looks at/refers to his girlfriend it is always in sexual terms which I found a bit creepy. I am unsure if this feeling is created by the writing or the narration, but I had to fast forward. On the whole I would say this listen was OK with good parts...

Romance on rocky ground

I enjoyed the second part of this book more than the first part, so stick with it. The book is billed as a suspense/thriller but I think it needs its own heading of romance/disaster. The first part of the book is explaining what happened in book one, which I didn't mind because I haven't listened to the first book and it explained what was going on but what I did find very tedious was they were jumping in bed every five minutes (the romance?). You know who the killer is and why so they is no mystery just how in the second half of the book they set out to catch him only to be caught up in a natural disaster, which I found interesting and saved the book for me. The story was well written and I did like the characters, especially Beth. I like it when a woman can take care of herself. it just didn't need all the sex scenes. I will be listening to the next book because the story isn't over yet. Donovan risked his and new girlfriend Beth's life to prove he didn't kill his brother but the real killer a corrupt cop got away. Donovan unable to let it go tracks him down to California. The pair are just about to confront the killer when an earthquake hits. With looters in the streets, sink holes opening up in front of them, building on fire and people trapped in dangerous situations can the pair find justice for Donovan's brother? Bill Nevitt is such a great narrator and the reason that I am giving this series ago. He has a way of bringing the characters to life and making a story entertaining. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Not a bad story

I'm not nornally someone who likes to mix genres so was a bit dubious with this one as it mixes romance with crime/thriller, but it did work quite well together. The romance parts aren't too rmoancy and the thriller aspect is a really good mix of intrigue and thriller. Overall it was a great vook and very well narrated, I'll be going back to book 1 next to see if i missed anything by listening to this one first.

Romance/crime novel

This is a romance/crime novel set during natural disasters, with heavy focus on the love angle and sex scenes. I did enjoy listening to this story, although I could have done with a lot less PDA. The characters are entertaining, the storyline is flowing, and the crime aspects are quite thrilling. This is the second book in the series and can be listened to as a standalone. (My suggestion would be to start with the first one though.) I thought this audiobook was an easy listen, made even more enjoyable by Bill Nevitt’s narration.

Well Written, with Great Narration

This is the second book in this series and I have not read or listened to book one - would I have got more from this book if I had, it's difficult to say. Seismic Crimes begins I assume where Hurricane Crimes ends but for people like me who didn't know the story so far it does give a little background. Donovan is on a mission to try to find the second killer of his brother, and Beth is helping him, having fallen in love with him in the previous book. They are now in San Francisco when a terrible devastating earthquake occurs, the luck these two have seems to be mainly bad. Now they must fact another force of nature and try to avoid being killed by dangerous criminals. Seismic Crimes is an action-packed story containing a little bit of everything. There's suspense, adventure, passion, and romance. The action continues to the last chapter and overall the writing style is easy to follow and flows well. The descriptive quality when the earthquake occurs is excellent making it easy for us the listener to picture the dangerous scene as it unfolds. The narration was excellent and really added to my enjoyment of this book. I will certainly look out for both the author and the narrators work in the future. I received this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

Decent romantic thriller amidst nature's law

The story: The couple in this series, don't really have a chance, moving from one natural disaster to another, all the while being chased by, or chasing, nefarious people. I'm not against romance books and they aren't a goto read for me, but those parts of the story, that as many people have said quite steamy, still didn't deter me from listening. I had read the first book prior to this to get an idea of the characters and therefore was used to the quite creepy start to their relationship in this book. However, it grows, very maturely. The thriller side was very well written, with good pace, a few intense and flowing set pieces. Beth and Donovan were well-rounded characters. I was invested in their chase of the killer. The narration: by Bill Nevitt, was excellent, kept the pace of the writing and made the intense set pieces thrilling, and read the romantic elements realistically. A nice easy listen and will likely look out for the next book.

Mostly a good story

The underlying story of the hunt for a killer and thriller aspect was very good. I enjoyed the thriller aspect & thought the earthquake section was particularly scary as we don’t suffer these. Thankfully! The narrator was good & kept the story going well. I’ve lowered my stars as I’m not a big fan of sex scenes in thriller books, I tend to skim them but the scenes in this were graphic and too detailed for my personal taste. I just don’t enjoy extreme details in a thriller story, I don’t see the point. My personal opinion, I found the interaction especially at the beginning very creepy between the main characters. I think this put me off the rest of the scenes between then. Lots have enjoyed it and that’s great. As I said my personal opinion only

enjoyable listen

This was an interesting listen with a bit of a chase and a bit of romance and 2 really likeable characters, inc a strong, feisty lady and well as a 'violet' eyed dashing man. It was an easy listen and sets you up nicely for the next in the series.

I love these crime solving love birds!

This is a very enjoyable series with characters that I have really come to like reading about. The addition of having to deal with a natural disaster as this couple do some figuring out of their relationship and finding out who did the crime that they stumbled makes for a good story line.. The narrator did a wonderful job and made it a very entertaining listen. A great series with interesting main characters..

Bad Luck Couple

I was given this free review copy audio-book at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This review is for the audio copy of Seismic Crimes - Disaster Crimes, Book 2 by Chrys Fey and narrated by Bill Nevitt. I missed book 1 but it did not make any difference because the story opened up with action as it provided enough backstory to gain an understanding of what was going on. It was a very good story with lots of action. Of course being read by Bill Nevitt guaranteed it would be entertaining.

Love, crimes, and an earthquake

When it comes to natural disasters, Beth and Donovan have the worst luck. In Seismic Crimes, they face an earthquake, along with some nasty villains. The book takes a long time to get to the action (unless action means a lot of graphic sex to you), but once the book gets moving, it really moves. Seismic Crimes is the second book in the series. I have listened to several of the books out of order, and I have not listened to the first book yet. I would imagine they would be better in order, but you can enjoy then independently as I did. Recommended for adult readers only. Contains graphic sex scenes. The narrator does a great job bringing the series to life. I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Part 2 of an action romance

This is the second book in the disaster crimes series. I have not read the first one and although this story stands alone, it would have been nice to have the background to the characters and their history when listening to this story. Beth and Donovan work together to find out what happened to Donovan’s brother. Donovan has been framed for his murder and while trying to clear his name, they have an earthquake to deal with. The story is action-packed and fast-paced with a steamy side to it. It is unusual to mix action and sexy/romance for me in a story, but I quite liked the combination. The pace changes had me on the edge of my seat and I really enjoyed the way the story was written. Albeit slightly predictable, it was still a thoroughly entertaining story. Bill narrated expertly. He adds tempo and style variation to fit the scenes perfectly. He has great intonation for both female and male characters and provided a stellar performance in my view. Note: This book was given to me for free at my request and I have provided this objective review, voluntarily.

Edge of the seat story

Seismic Crimes by Chrys Fey is a book that grabs the reader right from the start and doesn't let go until the dramatic end. Although part of a series, the author does a good job of filling in any pertinent details from the first book that the reader may need to know. In their search for a dirty cop, Beth and Donovan have landed in California just in time for a catastrophic earthquake. Lots of action, gripping descriptions of scenes, strong characters and an exciting plot make for a good book and Seismic Crimes has them all. I am looking forward to finding out more about this couple in the next books in the series. I listened to a complimentary copy of the audiobook and the narrator, Bill Nevitt, does a great job telling the story, making for an enjoyable listening experience. I will put a caution that this book is at least a PG-13 rating, due to language and intimacy details.

This couple lead dangerous lives!

I had a chance to go back and listen to this story, even though I have listened to the others in this series. Often this approach isn't desirable, as the later episodes sometimes give away some of the story from previous books in a series. In this case, it was like visiting old friends and learning something more about them, that I hadn't fully known the complete story off. I really enjoy the narrator's grasp of the various characters and how their characteristics come across by the accents and tones used. As for the tale itself, well, it's suspenseful and dramatic, with a touch of lust and attraction thrown in. Yes, if you love this genre, then you should enjoy this tale.

Exciting Thrill Filled Series and Romance

I loved this story. I read the first book and then got this one in audio. Lots of fun listening. Murder, Chaos in pursuit of a killer. And then, Oh, no, disaster as mother nature rages around the drama. This is a continuing romance that just adds to the character's depth. I was given a free audio code at my request and this is my honest opinion. I enjoyed the narration very much.

From hurricane to earthquake to catch a killer!

Fantastic story. Don tries to find the corrupt cop who murdered his IA cop brother and acquires Beth who saves him from being charged with his brother's murder. All this happens during a catastrophic hurricane. The corrupt cop escaped and they work with the local department trying to find the killer and the trail leads them to San Francisco where another natural disaster awaited. A nice romantic suspense which Bill Nevitt expertly brought to life.
