Summary

Prior to making her final pledge as a druid, the young seer Sibeal visits the island of Inis Eala, where the Sight leads her to Felix, a survivor of a Norse shipwreck who has no memory of his past. As the island's healers struggle to keep Felix alive, he and Sibeal form a natural bond. But Sibeal's vocation is her true calling, and she must choose between the two things that tug at her soul - her spirituality and a chance at love...

Glad I Perservered

Terry Donnelly took a lot of getting used to- I tried three times to listen to this and found that on the first two her voices just grated on me badly. Somewhere throughout though it seemed like either I just got used to her or she got better at it. The story was lovely, and particularly I loved the sea dragons. I found Felix to be a refreshing change of pace from the usual fighters too, he was quite endearing once he got out of the infirmary.

Mystery and romance all in one

I love Ms Marillier's books and am slowly working my way through a reread via audiobook. This novel is perhaps not her best but still very enjoyable. But I am not a fan of Terry Donnelly as a reader. She is SO slow. I have to up the speed to 1.50 to makes it bearable. Do that and you'll have a better time.

Seven Waters series

Love these books. The mixture of fairy tale & folk lore is engrossing and uplifting. Fantastic.

Not the best of the series

I have enjoyed this series up to now but found this book really hard going. It takes ages to get anywhere and then there’s the narration. The way the 2 main characters are read, they sound like they are about to burst into tears. It’s a real downer & with such a slow paced story I didn’t look forward to listening. I’m not sure it was worth the effort & I’m really unsure as to whether to get the next one or move onto something else.

Good book

Really not keen on the narrator. Over the top - had me rolling my eyes.

Narrator needs winding up

Narrator way too slow. Speeded her up to 1.2× and things improved massively!
Story moved the Sevenwaters saga on, Not the best book in the series but worth a listen, once the reader is up to speed.

Narration let this book down.

A change of narrator did this book no favours. The mens voices were awful, which is the only reason I dopped a star.

Mind blowing

I listened to every single word. And it was on my mind all day . I could not wait to rush home and listen to more . The story is brilliant . The historical fantasy of a beautiful young woman s hardship to save her family. I have read all seven waters books and none disappointed me each story tells of a new woman fighting to survive just loved them all
