Summary

Daisy’s hero is Florence Nightingale, and she hopes to one day become a nurse just like her.

But as a girl growing up in the East End of London in 1912, it seems like all her future holds is dropping out of school to work a tough job in a factory for very little money.

I loved the suspense in the story. I liked how brave Daisy was she always stood up for Lilly. Miss Bryce and Thomas were so kind. It sent a chill up my spine when it said Lilly was lying still on the ground.

Story - well written historical fiction with wonderful characters especially strong and (mainly) kind females. Quite gritty in places and also very tender and heart warming.

Narration - perfect in my view, one woman able to provide different accents for all the characters. The East End, Irish and other accents enabled a deeper immersion into the story. Thank you!

Brilliant for all ages!
