We meet up with Mack and Drew. And it is worth the cliffhanger from the first book.

We have misunderstandings, family , kids and love. Oh yes action and suspense.
Great second characters.

First of all, this is the second book in this duology. You should listen to or read the first book before you experience this.

My goodness! There is just so much going on in this book. Drew and Mackenzie's relationship seems to be going well even after he returned to LA. That is until the mother of Drew's twins, who has brain cancer, takes a turn for the worse and Mac gets some unexpected news. Drew opts to take a step away from their relationship before Mac has a chance to share her news with him. Meanwhile, Mac is dealing with a series of unexplainable deaths that requires the collaboration between several police squads and the FBI.

This book is pretty action-packed. It has deep emotions, moments of high tension and plenty of drama. All that is offset by the deep abiding love , friendship and family. It is a fantastic and satisfying conclusion to Drew and Mac's story. They absolutely deserve their HEA!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and this series. I just wish their were more books in the series!

This is one of my favourite Stacy Eaton books and this audio book matches it. Mack and Drew are amazing together and I can't recommend this enough.

The Return is cleverly written and an excellent addition to the Second Shield series. The storyline is an edge of your seat exciting, with plenty of drama, action, mystery, romance, suspense, and the right amount of plot twists to keep you guessing. My attention was thoroughly captured from the start by both the characters and the plot. I absolutely love the dynamics between Mack and Drew. Despite Chris's interference and other matters of concern, everything comes together perfectly. There were definitely remarkable heartfelt moments that made me feel even more connected to the characters. Haven R Powers did an outstanding job with the narration. Capturing the nuances of the characters, their emotions and energy, literally bringing them to life. The Second Shield is a marvellous romantic suspense series, with captivating characters and an engaging plot, one I'm highly recommending.
