After twenty years bound to a pirate captain, merman Kyler is desperate for his freedom before his scale consumes him. For reasons unknown to Kyler, the captain agrees to set him free, if he can pay the steep price by the end of summer.

Prince Gavin, third son of the king has been denied the Grand Mage status he's sought for seven years. Finally, the king decides to grant him a Task that would lead to him receiving the recognition he deserves. Unfortunately, there's a pesky arranged marriage he has to deal with.

When Kyler saves the charming prince from drowning, Gavin asks him to play his lover for a month to get out of marrying a princess from another land. Kyler agrees after Gavin offers him a favor. A favor Kyler intends to take full advantage of.

Will Kyler gain his freedom or will the captain keep him forever? Can Gavin protect his heart and become a Grand Mage or will he be torn apart by betrayal?

Sea & Sky is a sweet and steamy MM fantasy romance featuring a lonely broken merman and a dragon prince who is not as arrogant as he first appears.

Previously published as Sea and Sky by Morgan Lysand. This is the second edition rewritten in first person present tense.

Audiobook - well narrated, although it won't be a favourite narrator.
Story - a well thought out world with magic, pirates and dragons all in the forefront. Kyler really had an appalling life for the most part, and one of the highlights of the book was Gavin's acceptance of it all. Gavin himself was sometimes a bit too self-centred, although he mostly meant well. Kyler's struggles finally paid off, although it took a lot of effort to make it there.

very good

I read the ebook of Sea and Sky about a month or two ago. I'd been eagerly waiting it since the author first posted on social media, The book did not disappoint. Listening to it on audio? That took the story to a whole new level of fun. Over the course of two days I listened to Kyler and Gavin's story (would have listened to it in one go, but I had an appointment). Lance West did a wonderful job.
Using Morgan Lysand's wonderful prose, Mr West gives us a pragmatic, life weary merman Kyler and a confident, determined Prince Gavin, third in line to the throne. The king is an entitled toddler (one that would behead a servant for tripping in the dining hall.). The heir is pompous, the spare a sycophantic mediator. Princess Ailey is shrill, pirate Jessi sounds Irish.
It's a fast listen. The tension ramps up nicely. I often skim through the spice in books. Can't really do that with audios, I did have to lower the volume so my kids wouldn't groan. (Headphones, please, Santa) The spice is of the melt the reader, fan your face variety. The bedroom time was a bit angsty in parts, as Kyler relived past abuse.
Political intrigue, an unwanted alliance marriage, a mad king and a sadistic pirate round out the story. It was quite the enjoyable listen. I look forward to more.
I received an advanced copy of this audiobook and this is my review.
