Margo Lanagan
On remote Rollrock Island, the sea-witch Misskaella discovers she can draw a girl from the heart of a seal. So, for a price, any man might buy himself a bride—an irresistibly enchanting sea-wife.
But what cost will be borne by the people of Rollrock—the men, the women, the children—once Misskaella sets her heart on doing such a thing?

"Lanagan is in a class of her own." (The Weekend Australian)
"[A] finely wrought, disturbing novel." (Newtown Review of Books)
"The elegance of Lanagan's sentences and the beauty of the prose coax us along even as she makes us bear witness to grief. Though her work is often described as young adult, Sea Hearts, like Lanagan's previous novel, Tender Morsels, is really a crossover book, suitable for adults, too." (Sydney Morning Herald)
