Publisher's Summary

Book two in a thrilling new series.

The people that tried to kill the world almost succeeded. They were fiendishly clever but they didn't take into account the vets, the truckers, and the two-fisted fighters who didn't know how to give up.

Gunny and his band of survivors continue their journey along the Zombie Road, saving as many as they can along the way. They power through the undead hordes with their modified semi-trucks to beat the ticking clock of nuclear meltdowns.

Lacy fights her way out of the high-rise office building and the kids who had managed to escape the high school and make it home face a new enemy. Boredom.

New evil raises its ugly head and new heroes are born as they all battle to make it to a place of safety.

Get ready for a bloodbath on the blacktop.

"What more can a zombie addict want"

I was very pleased to see this title considering I only just stumbled across Zombie Road earlier this month which I loved.

I am even more pleased to say that this one is even better than the first. The action picks up in every way. The storyline continues to develop depth and the characters continue to become more likeable. I get the feeling that these characters are based on real life friends of the author and the affection the author has for the characters is endearing.

Eric A Shelman continues to impress as the narrator. I also noticed an increasing use sound effects. For example, the use of echoes. This helps the listener get into the story. In the past I have not been a fan of this sort of thing and have been vocal against the use of such things, probably because it has been overdone in the past. Not in this case, it was not a distraction and it just felt natural. Eric A Shelman really did have a difficult task in this one, the sheer number of different characters would be quite a challenge for any narrator. The length of this one nearly 11 hours so even when I increase the speed to 1.25x speed which is what I normally do, the dollar per hour ratio is not over affected.

The story goes up a notch in the use of not just trucks but trains! Seriously what more can a zombie addict want!

This fast Fatman is sitting on his motorcycle with the biggest grin and two fat thumbs held high in the air with a HUGE HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY! This fatman's advice is buy buy buy!

    Story
    "Better than the frst"

Gunny, Grizz and Collins along with his motley crew from 3 flags are still on the road heading to Lakota where Conners told him they would be safe...after they cleared the town. The reason for Conners using the guilt trip on Gunny is obvious and in this half of the story, he explains further. We are also made privy (possible spoilers) about another group that has claimed the title of United States Congress and a new president. This is not something Gunny has been made privy to with good reason. Gunny is seen as the only hope for the return of civilzation and thus far he has inspired a large enough group to make it happen. Gunny however is feeling a small amount of guilt for not being able to just go off and search for his family. His guilt at leaaving the people that now trust and believe in him is warring against that. Of course it wouldn't be a great story line if we don't have a bad guy and Casey, a prisoner prior to the beginning of th Viral infection and a sociopath with a bit of schizephrenia has had a run in with Collins an has vowed to get his revenge on her and Gunny. The adventure on Z road does lag at times but only because explainations, some long others brief, give us more background of exactly what is happeniing behind the scenes where Conners is concerned, how he is fighting his own inner battle to make sure the country he loves rises again and not fall into the hands of those that are responsible, not all of them Muslim. The narration by Eric Shelman is spot as usuall and is fast becoming one of my favorite narrators as well as very talented writers. Really looking forward to the next installment.

    "Love it!!!"

I purchased these books because I needed a new author and the premise seemed interesting. So glad I did, the story is compelling and the characters seem so real. The only thing I'm disappointed in is that I have to wait for the next book.

Excellent work! Great characters, great storyline. Again, really well written without being pretentious. Plenty of action without gratuitous gore. Can't wait for Book III.

    "Zombie Road 2"

Unlike most sequels, this book did not lose its edge that the series had gained since book 1. Simpson does a great job tying everything together to make this a very interesting and entertaining series. I can't wait for Book 3.

"2nd Zombie Road adventure even better than the 1st"
What did you love best about Zombie Road II?

I love the cast of characters, I like all the main hero's in this story, from Gunny, Griz, Cobb, Stabby and Scratch. The grim/gore of Zombie killing mixed with little jewels of humor.
I like the fact that most of these guys are gun toting veteran's with strong old fashioned values and deadly fighting skills. They make awesome heroes in this Zombie Apocalypse world.
This is definitely a right leaning work of fiction, but that just makes it more appealing in my opinion. There is a good vs evil tale being told on several levels.
I missed very much that there was NO mention of Jesse's fate after leaving him in a cliffhanger of a situation. And no mention of Lacey in the second half of the book either. Mr Simpson please write faster.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Zombie Road II?

Griz and Scratch. It was sweet and scary. And even the ultimate fate of that situation was left somewhat up in the air.
This book left a lot of plot threads dangling.

Which character – as performed by Eric A. Shelman – was your favorite?

I love Griz, and Stabby. They both add clever slices of humor here and there, even in action packed fighting scenes.
And I think Gunny is a very interesting MC.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No. No, I don't think there were any moments that I cried or laughed out loud or any
extreme reactions, but I did have moments of concerns for characters fates, and I definitely was smiling at certain parts.

    Any additional comments?

This is a great series that I hope the author continues for a least a couple of more books, This series if fast becoming one of my Zombie fav's.
And Eric Shelman is a terrific narrator.
