    Story
"We're on our own out here."

This Audio book includes the first two episodes of an ongoing serial. As such, further books will be required to complete the story.
Having said that, the first of the two books could be read alone as it reads like a short story covering the redistribution of the virus which will cause such worldwide devistation. Book two moves on to the first hours, the release points, chaos and reaction from authorities, and introduces the reader to those characters likely to be playing a part in the books to come.

An interesting feature of these opening chapters is that the distribution of the virus released was a deliberately devised scheme, that the Zeds were very fast moving and actively aggressive.

Early days yet but the desperate groups of survivors trying to find a safe location seem to be growing in charactdr and this is ably assisted by the narration of S.W.Salzman. His slightly gruff voice is pleasant to hear and his reading is well paced and clear.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the rights ho?der, via Audiobook Boom. My thanks for that. I did enjoy listening and there were certainly some novel approaches which promise to make this slightly different to other zombie apocalypse books. But was I sufficiently involved to continue with the serial? Probably not.

"Amazing - from the characters to the storyline!"

These books grabs you from page one. I'm glad my graduation didn't go down like this! I love the diversity of angles that we have from terrorists to survivalists to those just trying to make it - all with Zombies of course. You can really tell that the author is interested in the psychology of a broken society where we stop worrying about what to buy and survival one again trumps everything else.

Great suspense, tense, action filled story all brought to life by the incredible narration.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

    "👍🏻"

I enjoyed this one. Great cast of characters. Nothing new or original about the story but I did enjoy it. It’s a great start to a ZA series.

The narrator did a good job overall. I had to get used to him but after awhile the narration did grow on me.

    "Entertaining and enjoyable"

Entertaining and enjoyable zombie apocalypse story. It pulled me in from the start and held my complete attention. I wasn't ready for it to be over when it ended and immediately went looking to see if there were more installments of the series available on Audible. Unfortunately not yet.

While there is really nothing new or unique overall about the scenario it's an interesting and enjoyable good story with a well rounded cast of characters. I really liked that the origin of what started the apocalypse was fully explained. Instead of being dropped into the middle of the action.

The story follows several different groups in their attempts to avoid dangerous situations, adjust when they can't, what happens to them on their way to get home/reunite with each other or reach a destination.

One of the most entertaining about things any type of apocalypse story is if you pay attention you can learn something new, unusual or just something you might never have thought of.

S.W. Salzman does a good job with the narration. I have listened to several books that he has narrated but in this book his voice seems to be even more raspy/gruff than usual and it took me a while to adjust to his narration. Not long though. He is one of those narrators that has an easily recognizable voice. Good character voices. I even liked his female voices. Just a slight change in cadence was enough to distinguish a female character. I'm glad he didn't try to do a falsetto voice for female characters. He was able to bring the characters and story to life. Hopefully he will be narrating the rest of the series.

"Great Start to a zombie series!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Zed's World to be better than the print version?

Never read the print but the audio version was really good!

What did you like best about this story?

Loved the characters and different perspectives. Really liked D-day!

Have you listened to any of S.W. Salzman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Haven't heard any of his other stuff. And I'll admit that at the beginning I didn't think I would like his style and voice. But he really grew on me, couple hours into the book.

    Any additional comments?

"Interesting take on the Zombie Genre"
What made the experience of listening to Zed's World the most enjoyable?

The story was very well crafted. It told the story through different points of view and each view was very distinct.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Zed's World?

The Chaos at the Mobi (?)

What about S.W. Salzman’s performance did you like?

I thought that he did a good job of narrating the book. he was able to lend distinct voices to each character. His voice was a little rough and was hard to get used to at first.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    TERRORism on the Homefront!!!

    Any additional comments?

    "Zombies! SO fast! Everywhere "

I liked how the Zombies came about to be. very cleaver. The story moves quickly, and has a lot of action packed into it.

It took me a bit, to like the narrator, At first, I just couldn't bond with his voice, but it got better over time.

    "well worth listening to"

This is my first Rich Baker book (s). I really liked these books. The story is well written and the characters are likable and relatable. I hope to see more of this series as I want to know what is going to happen. This is also my first time hearing S.W. Salzman do narration. Definitely a voice I like listening to as I have started Mr. Baker's Zed's World over and over. I think I am on my 5 th time listening. High praise to the author and narrator.

    Story
"Terrorists seek revenge via zombie apocalypse. "

The zombies are running, walking, and crawling in Zed's World, where four stories unfold simultaneously, describing the earliest moments in civilization's downfall. We learn of a terrorist plot, borne of revenge, that seeks to unleash an apocalyptic punishment on Western society. Once the plague is released into the streets, we follow other individuals and a group of college friends as they navigate a deadly new reality in search of safety.

In terms of an original concept, the first two books of Zed's World utilize a standard zombie takeover formula. That being said, I did like it. The characters are well developed and there's even a fair amount of plausibility. Book one, however, is incredibly short, making me wonder why these two individual installments weren't created as one. Having heard him read before, I felt S. W. Salzman's narrative performance was good despite the gruff quality in his voice for this book's reading. Overall, the story may not be groundbreaking, but I found entertainment and enjoyment all the same.

    "Skip book one..."

Book 1 reads like a short story format novel. No real character development, mostly just a detailed prelude to the second novel.

A recommendation for the author: HIRE A NEW NARRATOR... IMMEDIATELY!!

I nearly gave up on this novel (multiple times) because the narration is terrible. Imagine "Siri" with a male raspy tone and it makes for a distracting, boring experience. I've listened to over 200+ audio books, and this is the worst narrator I've listened to.

The writing and story are good in the second book. If you can get past the narration, you may actually anticipate the third novel. The only way I'd give the follow-up a shot, is if the author hires a voice actor to perform the book, rather than a monotone, robot-like narrator that reads with the enthusiasm of my 8 year old.
