Publisher's Summary

In the midst of a bitter family feud, the much divided Rolland family is thrown together when news of their father's untimely passing places them on a red-eye flight from Seattle to Washington D.C. Although, they are physically close in the tight space of the aircraft, Rege, Mark, and Kit are at their farthest distance apart emotionally.

Until the unthinkable happens.

Two hours into the flight, missiles streak across the star-filled sky, the detonation of a nuclear warhead causes the plane to make a forced landing.

A family torn apart are now together living the inconceivable. Circumstances outside of their shelter are dire and the future far from certain.

America is devastated and crippled by the nuclear attacks. Rege, Mark, and Kit must chart out their path deciding what to do and where to go. What is right? What is wrong? Not only for the Rolland Family, but for everyone, survival is the top priority. Each day is a fight against the odds for water and food, while holding on to every ounce of hope they can live long enough to see tomorrow.

    Story
"This story has no happy ending."

Such a pity that the information blurb is so fulsome as part of the immediate appeal of this book is the mystery of what is happening aboard red eye flight 24-68, from Seattle to Washington DC. Four members of the same family are on the flight, two brothers, one sister and her teenaged son. They are on their way to a memorial service, following the sudden heart attack of the father of the three siblings. The reader is aware from the opening sentences that their plane will crash but not why and it is the return to four hours previously which really draws the reader into the story as well as introducing most of the main protagonists.

As the blurb informs us, the tragedy that follows is not theirs alone as they are just a tiny part of a post apocalyptic story, one which is treated by the author with a semblance of reality unusual in such books. There is kindness still mixed into the need to survive as well as death and despair in the "desolate world, grey in colour." And joy. It also raises the questions of how possible it really is to plan for such disasters. Sensitively and beautifully written, there is no happy ending but there is still hope.

The narration in such a book is even more important than in most, and Andrew Wehrlen's performance slips into perfect synchronicity with the text. A brisk pace, with expressively good intonation and individual, fitting voices for each of the characters helps not only to further breath life into all of the protagonists but also carries the story forward powerfully with emotion but never over-the-top hysteria. His reading is a perfect fit for the whole tone of the book.

I was very fortunate in being gifted a complimentary copy of What Tomorrow Brings, at my request, by the rights holder, via Audiobook Boom. Thank you so much. I had not previously encountered any other books by Ms.Druga but will certainly be looking out for others now. This is a book I can warmly recommend not only to readers of post apocalyptic novels but to all interested in people and their reactions within families and under duress. A masterful audio book.

    "Good book. Needs a sequel"

On the whole I enjoyed this book. Quite a few twists in the plot. But i think a lot more could have been done with the story. Example,Two very ill people (radation poisoned) went from Colorado to Washington to Spokane. Nothing in the middle. In a country where little works no plot. But if in someways a simple story, it was good. I would like to see a sequel. Very good narration. A good voice.

    "👍🏻"

Not really what I expected in a post apocalyptic book. More drama than action. I did enjoy the whole family drama thing. A well told story that kept my attention. I liked it very much.

Andrew Wehrlen did a fantastic job as always. I love his work.

    "A Good Story"

This was a pretty good story. I tried it as something a little different for me. It's more lit than the apocalypse, but it's extremely well done. I liked the individual stories that were told during this book. I felt like each member of the family had their moments to shine and their struggles and journeys were very clear.. It turns out, I need more than a good story, but that is my failing, not the fault of the story.

The narrator Andrew Wehrlen did a great job bringing this story to life.

"Less about survival, more about feelings."

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author / narrator / publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

This book isn't quite what I had expected. By reading the synopsis, I was thinking there will be some family drama at the beginning but once the nukes fall, it will turn into a gritty post-nuclear survival story. That's not how it turned out actually. Sure, there are families scattered across the nation, fighting to survive in the ruined country and escaping radiation etc. But the book focuses more on the "feelings" of the characters. It's more about how families behave during a crisis. If that's not what you are here for, this book isn't for you.

The narration was tad disappointing. Most of the characters sounded the same and there was no infliction. Kinda put me off.

    "Very entertaining and enjoyable"

I really enjoyed this book. I was looking forward to it and was not disappointed at all. It's a very entertaining, engaging and enjoyable story that pulled me in immediately and held my attention from start to finish.

It's well written with an interesting storyline and really good cast of well rounded characters.

This is not your happy go lucky everyone survives apocalypse. Even if they live through the plane crash that is about to happen they are facing a life changing catastrophic event. Not all of them are going to survive. It's a glimpse into the different situations and hardships that would be faced by many in this type of event. No matter who you are, who you know or how well connected you are not everyone is going to survive. I liked that their father tried to warn them in his own way.

This is the first book by Jacqueline Druga that I have read, but it wont be my last evidently I have been missing out.

Andrew B Wehrlen once again does a fantastic job with the narration. He has one of those voices that just pulls you right into a story and makes it come to life. No matter what type of story it is his voice just seems to fit. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. Great character voices. Perfect tone and delivery for each situation and emotion of the characters. Very enjoyable.

    "Interesting!"

The plot itself is predictable but is still interesting. I liked how all the people we meet are interlinked in someway but we don't find out until we read it.

    "Excellence once again"

Jacqueline Druga has a great understanding of what makes us scared. The stark reality of her books combined with the ebb and flow of the story will pull you into it as though you are living the terror. The story of a nuclear holocaust and those that are trying to survive afterwards is so real. You can't help but to care for the characters. You understand their motivation and can agree 100%. Rarely does a book get to me so much that I actually cry when a character dies. Not only has Ms. Druga made me cry over the loss of a character, but this is the second book by her that has moved me to tears. I definitely look forward to more from her in the future.

Mr. Wehrlen was amazing as always. He breathes life into the characters as well. I have listened to several books narrated by him and I look forward to more in the future.

I was given a free preview copy of this audiobook and I am leaving a voluntary review.

A very interesting story following one bickering family as they fight for survival in a post nuclear war America. I thought the story was well written and the narration was spot on. Well worth a credit.

    Story
    "Entertaining."

The Rolland family is flying to their fathers funeral. The whole family seems to be fighting and all of them are in separate parts of the plane. A few hours in, their plane starts falling out of the sky. Something that looks like a bomb falling is seen and next thing they know, they have crash landed. While trying to find each other, they are also running against the clock because radiation fallout is quickly closing in!!

This was a really good read. The plot was fast paced and intense. While it tells the whole struggling to survive in the aftermath of a nuclear bomb, it also focuses on the family drama that is the Rolland family. I liked that we get more than the average struggling to survive story! Character wise, there is quite a few, but all are well written. I liked getting to know them and also finding out about how the family came to be fighting. All are well developed and I hope we see more from them.

In all, this was a quick and entertaining read. I was drawn in from the first page and it held my attention till the end. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Andrew B. Wehrlen did a great job. He is easy to listen to and tells the story well. His inflections and cadences were spot on and he brought the book to life.

I was voluntarily provided this audiobook for free from the author, narrator, or publisher. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.
