Summary

High in the wooded, peaked mountains of Skeln, the woodsman Dakeyras and his beautiful daughter, Miriel, live a life of harmonious solitude.

Unbeknown to them, a group of grim-eyed, bloodthirsty warriors stalk the mountains. Men who have never known defeat, to whom revenge and torture are meat and drink. For 10,000 in gold they are eager to kill the woodsman.

Battle-hardened warriors all, they have no fear of this task - but they should have. For Miriel is a woman of fire and iron, skilled with bow and blade and taught her skills by one of the deadliest killers of all time: her father, Dakeyras, better known as Waylander the Slayer.

This audiobook is incomplete

What disappointed you about Waylander II?

The audiobook finished before the story ended. I have read the original book and it does not end like this - with about three strands of the story just left hanging

What was most disappointing about David Gemmell’s story?

The story itself was a great story up to the point where it just cut off.

How could the performance have been better?

The performance was fine - very good in fact

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment

Any additional comments?

You need to check the master recording - the last part of the story is missing

Made for each other

I get the impression that Sean Barrett loves reading these books, his performance brings so much emotion that it couldn't be otherwise. I've listened to other stories that may well be better than this one, but the combination of Gemmell and Barrett brings something that's greater than the sum of the parts. For those that enjoy hero and sword fantasy, this is really something special and highly recommended.

Great continuation of the series

I can't get enough of Gemmell's books. They are absolutely wonderful, and they are nicely narrated.

God I love Gemmell

I mean the title says it all really. Loved this series since I was a kid and it's great to hear it read by someone who clearly also enjoys what they're reading.

Excellent as always. Very satisfied with the writing and narration. Read it in my youth and such a great pleasure to hear it in audio book form.

Incredible

Great book. Great Epic series of which this is a part. The acting of the narrator, Sean Barrett, was outstanding in my opinion. Particularly in one death scene.....it was so moving and brought tears to my eyes....... I’m so pleased there are more of this author and narrator to hear.
