Publisher's Summary

An experiment that began 2.8 billion years ago is about to end....

Seb Varden is starting to get used to life as a World Walker. With a body full of alien nanotechnology, the ability to travel anywhere instantly and - most surprising of all - a steady relationship with Meera Patel, things are finally looking up.

Until Seb has his first blackout, starts meeting aliens and discovers a plan that threatens the entire human race. And, of course, Mason, the most dangerous Manna user, picks this particular moment to come after him and Meera.

Scariest of all, Seb is learning his transformation into a World Walker is far from complete....

Monkeys, aliens, technology, parallel universes, music, psychopaths, A.I., a magic tech spider, The Unmaking Engine has it all, including the explanation of how all life on Earth began. Did I mention monkeys?

"The first book was great, this is not.!"

Read the first book and then on audio, that's how much I enjoyed it. Went straight out and bought the audio of this one and sorry, but very disappointed.

Great storyline but sooo slow and prosaic in the never ending diversions from the main story. Blah, blah, blah. every few pages it went into silly little areas that did not move the story forward at all.

The author kept using the exact same word every time another person spoke. He said or she said, no changes such as he replied or she responded etc etc. This made the conversations boring whereas with the right use of different words, it would have had another star from me.

Overall, if the author does a 3rd book I MIGHT read it and really want too not if the issues noted above are still there, then I wont buy it, sorry.

Really would like to see this author get this right because I can see a future with me reading more of his books.

"It's all about the he said, she said BS."

Enjoyed the story and performance but it was ruined for me by the constant use of "He said" or "She said"
I had to stop listening at one point as it became unbearable.
Not sure if I'll purchase book 3 based on this.

    "Lost me by the mid-point"

Didn't love the characters enough, got a little too random with no explanation and the protagonist's powers became far far far too big for the author to control. He is basically invincible. What good is that in a fantasy story?! Liked the first book, not so much this second one

    "Can't think of a title "

Whilst the narrator does a good job, it does sound quite weird when he does 'mee's' voice, which I found slightly off putting.
The story, I'm pleased to say, has not disappointed and I look forward to the next book. There are so many places this story could be taken, both for the future and historically within the story. There is background that we have yet to discover and I'm very interested to see how the author Sainsbury imagines it all.

A great second book in my opinion, and I look forward to (at the moment) books 3 and 4.

"Overly Descriptive, Moralizing - makes for tedium"

Absolutely my favourite genre and that's the only reason I made an effort. But, it was hard work. Wished the author had followed the 'show, not tell' guideline for storytelling. Descriptions and explanations of the obvious went on ad nauseam. Things were too easy for 'the hero' to make an exciting story. Resolution and ending anticlimactic. Great story idea though.

"Nice potential but ultimately not satisfying"

Very imaginative but far to much exposition. This on top of a hero who never seemed to understand anything and needed the exposition dumbed down to a 5th grade level made portions of the book seem endlessly repetitive.

The narrator did a wonderful job with what he had and would likely shine even brighter if given a more mature story.

Over all this is bearable because of the narration, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

    "Def worth a credit"

Very cool premise, enjoyed the first book a little more but this one is def worth a read. Very nice blend of sci-if, fantasy, hero type book. Cool spin on explaining religion etc. This book just doesn't have that "can't put down factor." Also I save my 5 stars for the truly epic books which is rare, so 4 star is most people's 5. My last two books were on the amazing level. "The Call" was a really fun fantasy/horror book, premise might not sound good but trust me I couldn't put it down, almost gave 5 stars. The truly epic 5 star book was "Awaken Online." I gave "Ready Player One" five stars and Awaken was even better!!

    "The path of least resistance"

The story of a man who takes the path of least resistance. Every hard decision is handled in a clumsy way. None of his choices at the end make a lick of sense.

I mean this guy just starts lecturing about taking the easy way out, but... read about his past in the first book, and he's no different. Give him a God complex and insane powers, and now all that is glossed over.

    What ever.

    "Decent, but..."

It's a decent read for many of the same reasons one woulda liked the preceding World Walker, and a lot of the loose ends are tied up, but imo it just didn't have the same flow and cohesion as the first... Still a good read, but you might be disappointed by some of the seeming disjointedness...

Still loving this series. The characters, the ever changing plot twist, and the shear genus of the overall story brought me back again. Now on to book 3.

    "creative plot."

good action. creative plot with some themes about where we may stand in the universal sentience. the writing itself is good enough, this isn't going to win awards for mastery of language or character development, but it is a fun series to read and I am looking forward to the third book.

this is an odd thing I know, but the guy just mispronounces words throughout the story and that really kicks me out of the story. its a great story too, twists and turns, full of drama, but then wham, mispronounced word.

    "Narration So-So; story good"

Narrator mispronounces random words throughout: analogous, samurai, etc. It's disconcerting. But the story makes up for this and brings you back in.
