Publisher's Summary

Thomas Pendleton loves his wife, Ann, and six-year-old son, Seth, more than anything, but his job often makes him an absent husband and father. One day, after Thomas leaves on a business trip, his wife and son are killed in a car accident. Thomas shuts himself off from the world and is at home grieving when a cosmic storm enters Earth's atmosphere. Scientists are baffled by its composition and origins, but not nearly as much as they are by the storm's side effect: Anyone who has died and chosen not to cross over is suddenly visible and can interact with the living.

Ann does not return, but Seth does, and Thomas sees it as a miraculous second chance to spend time with his son and keep the promises he had previously broken. They set out on a trip to the Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., but little do they know that they are traveling headlong into a social and political maelstrom that will test Thomas in ways he could never imagine. Along the way, they come face to face with armed kidnappers who want Seth for his supernatural abilities, meet up with a medium, the ghost of a slave boy, and encounter none other than Abraham Lincoln.

Citing an overpopulation problem caused by the Impalpables, the government begins to take drastic measures. Military scientists have a device called the Tesla Gate that is said to return Impals to where they were before the storm. Many have nicknamed the controversial machine "the shredder" because no one really knows if it will do what it is reputed to, or if it will instead shred the Impals - effectively destroying the soul. Thomas is determined to do everything possible to save Seth, or at the very least, ensure that Seth doesn't have to endure his sentence alone....

    "Exquisite"

This is the most wonderful and heart warming book I've listened to in years. The concept is inspired; your deceased loved ones coming back to be with you. Discovering that they never really left, but hung about, taking care and watching over you. I had to stop listening on numerous occasions so I could have a little weep at the thought of any of my departed family possibly coming back and how marvellous that would be. Jake Urry does a magnificent performance as Thomas Pendleton. This is a beautifully composed, thought provoking tale of one man's love for his son. It will resonate with every working parent and anybody who has ever lost someone close to them. There should be a multiple tissue warning with this book. Five bright, shiny stars for a story that touched my heart and will stay there for a very long time.

    "The Tesla Gate"

A paranormal thriller combines science fiction, horror and a fantastical premise with a heart-wrenching relationship story about a father and his son. Add some great moments of humor, and a ton of insight into what death means and how we "deal" with it, those of us living, anyway, and you have all the mixings of a great new series.

    "Easy read (listen)"

The accent king!!! Let me begin by saying this narrator can do any accent known to man. I enjoyed his tone and I felt like I knew the characters better because of him. The book was great. I like the way he brought history and supernatural together. If you like good books give this a listen. " Interesting Sci-Fi/Paranormal Story"

The story starts out as normal then a cosmic storm hits. A grieving Thomas Pendleton sees his son Seth (ghost/impal) who was killed in car crash along with his mother. They are then on an amazing journey meeting many more impals while they government is tracking them. They meet Abe Lincoln; see Elvis Presley as well as other ghost/impals (including a dog named Jackson) and other living. It really shows the love of a father who regrets not spending time with his family while they were alive and it making it up never to lose Seth again. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. THANK YOU!

    "Heart wrenching and fascinating concept"

I loved this book. Once I started it, I couldn’t stop listening. It’s a heart wrenching tale that leaves you breathless with the thought of how quickly and easily things can spiral out of control. I finished in one sitting and, I can’t wait to start the next book in the series. The narration is good, if a tad slow; I sped it up to x1.25 and it was perfect. I absolutely recommend this book! I received a review copy at my request and voluntarily reviewed.

    Story
    "Not my cuppa..."

I picked up this story because it's premise sounded interesting and different... But unfortunately, this book really wasn't for me... I kept waiting for something to pique my interest, something to make me care about the characters,  and by the time that finely happened I was 3/4 the way through, and then it was over! Ugh... It's a sweet story of a father learning what's really important his son! I didn't think much of the narrator, I kept trying to figure out if he was using his natural voice or if that was a persona he used for the book... The book is well written but not my cup of tea...
