Summary

The Second book got better
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Second books tend to fade away from the first. NOT THIS TIME.
This book was as gripping as the first one and i can't wait for the next book

let down
Struggled to finish this book. should have kept my money. a story that has a bad start, that stumbles along to a welcome finish. Welcome because I can remove it from my Samsung.

Time... to un(t)ravel some threads
As a second book in what must be at least a trilogy (more! please more!), it very honorably holds its ground.
If there's less action and a bit more 'exposé', it's only understandable.
I particularly liked the parts where the subtleties of life in Victorian London are explained. Details like smog or dogfights imbue the narrative with a particular atmosphere that thoroughly enriches the horrors that await the reader.
Overall, the quality of the writing is on par with the first book, but because of the need for some explanation and clarifications to be expected in relation with time-travel, it may *seem slightly less gripping* than its predecessor.
It remains a very enjoyable book.

Excellent...but...
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series so far although the concept of time travel is becoming as confusing to listen to as it seems to be for the characters involved!
I found that I have to really concentrate on the story otherwise I have had to rewind to follow the plot. Just becomes tricky when trying to listen and get jobs done at the same time lol!
However, looking forward to the next instalment and hoping the plot will become clearer!!

A worthy sequel to the first book

It carried the story along very well.

The cliffhangers - whenever you thought you were going to get some answers, there were more questions - and problems.

Just this trilogy. He good in this one.

Not bad!
i liked it, some very long narrative passages but just enough action to keep it going, and I'm still enjoying the general story. was shocked I'd reached the end of book thought i must still be somewhere in the middle! i guess not a huge amount happens and clearly the third book has the ending which makes this a bit more filler than I'd like. but it's good if you liked the first book go for it, really enjoyable and I'm looking forward to book three to tie up all the storylines!

Intelligent Urban Fantasy
Have you listened to any of Ben Onwukwe’s other performances? How does this one compare?
This follows on brilliantly from the first book in the series, continuing to delve deeper into the 'rabbit hole'. The staging of the book in early 19th Century gives it a Sherlock Holmes feel but with the added mystery and supernatural element. Can't wait for the next instalment. It works excellently as an Audio book, with Ben Onwukwe giving an excellent voice to the character.

Off key narration
Why do people keep raving about this narrator?! Yes he has a wealth of different accents/voices, but he is so off key in inflection its spoiling the story. He manages to make characters sound as if they are whining and sulking when they should be alarmed, angry, fearful. He diffuses the tense bits with a flippant bored tone. It's really awful and irritating. To the point that I want to know how the trilogy ends but I may actually buy the paperback and read it myself.

We are all rooting for Alex.
I love these books. Time jumping has he got the heart back, will ever find Kate. No spoilers here.
The characters are as rich as the plot line Alex is a great character and his adventures make for a compiling story. You can feel you are really getting to know them all and the villains are just creepy. The Dark Man! Can't wait for the next instalment

series is getting better!
this series is definitely a slow burner, but this book seemed twice as intense as the first, and the whole story seemed to knit together better. the next book is being ordered now!
