Publisher's Summary

"The Oversight is most dangerous when most reduced. There are many dead and gone who did not remember that."

The Oversight of London has been sworn for millennia to prevent the natural and the supernatural worlds from preying on each other. Now, at its lowest ebb, with its headquarters destroyed and its last members scattered far and wide, this secret society will battle for survival and face the harshest foe it has ever met: itself.

    "Charlie Fletcher Quality."

Good quality ending; spot on narration as only the author could and the knowledge that I will look forward to reading the trilogy as a whole sometime in the future.

    "Gripping."

Absolutely loved it. The story from beginning to end kept me on the edge of my seat.
The narration was amazing and brought every character to life.

I hope we get to follow where the Oversight go to next

"A excellent trilogy comes to an end."

This a the last book in the trilogy and it does not disappoint. It has the same quality as the first two books and does not feel like a final story.

I would like to here more of the overwatch but saying too much would would mean providing spoilers.

I recommend the books and to be honest when I started the series I had concerns when I saw the writer was doing narration I had my doubts as I have had books where the writer is not a narrator, but I found the narration both engaging and the character voices on the nose.

    "Ruined by author as narrator"

Authors should never narrate their own work. Charlie Fletcher doesn't make too bad a go at it (pacing is off & he's rather too plummy, struggling to differentiate characters) but he could be worse. What really spoiled it for me is the amateurish mic technique and mastering by the studio. I can hear every tiny little bubble of saliva in his mouth pop and squish constantly, and it's pretty gross. The story I'm enjoying; not quite as much as the previous instalment, but if you enjoy the series it's definitely worth a go... if you can, though, I'd suggest the book rather than the audiobook.

"This trilogy is now added to my favourites list"

There are books it would hurt never to enjoy again. This is a prime example. Up there with dragonbone chair, shannara.,and the rivers of London. Series. Thank you Charlie.

    "Amazing"

Total involvement in the story, the characters, the action. Happiness, sadness, hope and action, all thrown into a pot and stirred into a story of great delight! Listen to the trilogy, one of the best I've read or listened to. Such a shame it's come to an end.

"Should have stayed witht he original narrator."
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I loved the first book, the narrator was very good. I didn't enjoy the second book so much but only because the narrator was changed and the story was read by the author and he wasn't as good. Now on the third book, I'm sending it back. I can hear all the workings of his mouth, it sounds like his tongue is dry or something. I'll buy the paper version as I really enjoyed book 1 and I'd like to know the end.

What did you like best about this story?

    I didn't finish it.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

He's a writer and not an actor. It didn't work for me.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Remnant?

    Don't know, I gave up.

    Any additional comments?

Writers should resist thinking of themselves as actors.

    "Unlistenable"

I really enjoyed the previous two books and was really looking forward to the final instalment.

Unfortunately Charlie's narration is so poorly recorded (mouth too close to the mic) that all I could hear was his saliva and lips smacking together. Total off putting and made it impossible to focus on the story so no idea if it was any good as had to stop listening after a few chapters.

Will have to buy the book instead.
