Summary

He's insisting he's a Tide Lord and he's begging us to try again...to kill him, that is.

When a routine hanging goes wrong, the survivor announces he is Cayal the immortal Prince, a Tide Lord. However, the only known record of the immortal beings of Amyrantha is the Tide Lord Tarot...and everyone knows it is only a parlour-game, an amusement.

Arkady Desean, an expert on the legends of the Crasii - a part-animal, part-human race - is sent to interrogate Cayal. But in exposing this would-be immortal, Arkady's own web of deceit threatens to unravel.

Nothing is as it seems around the Immortal Prince. The lies seem plausible, his stories improbable...and the truth is more than any of them bargained for.

New concept - novelty character within the genre

What did you like most about The Immortal Prince?

I have read pretty much everything worth reading in the fantasy genre over the last two and a half decades and thus it is very hard for me to find something with novelty character. Tide magic is a new concept, which makes the novel stand out among other fantasy works. Some components of the plot is somewhat reminiscent of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. While many fantasy novels have a medieval setting, this novel appears to have a Baroque setting, also differentiating it from others in the same category.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Immortal Prince?

What does John Telfer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

John Telfer is an extremely talented narrator who managed to bring to life the different characters. He is a key reason why I enjoyed listening to the book as much as I did.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Perhaps the episode when Cayal tried to rescue his daugher Vlis instead of assassinating her.

Any additional comments?

I would say that the whole plot flowed very smoothly, I found it difficult to switch off as I was eager to find out what would happen next.
The characters are all multi-faceted and nobody is really the person they appear to be at first sight. They all have their own secrets, grudges and ambitions. The author reveals this bit by bit as the plot moves along, which kept up the suspense.

A truly new idea has arived...... Tide magic.

If you could sum up The Immortal Prince in three words, what would they be?

hmmmmm very interesting (in your best Einstein voice)

What other book might you compare The Immortal Prince to, and why?

An interview with a vampire crossed with game of thrones

What about John Telfer’s performance did you like?

well he was just a joy to listen to. A ninja of multiple accents and vocal characteristics. well maybe not that good but he is good

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

hmmmmm , not really, I find this question odd, its a 20 ish hour book.

Any additional comments?

well my Friends come one come all and see a truly novel idea (well I've never seen it before) tide magic. there are chaps and chappets (tide lords) who control tide magic which is controlled by the tide star which seems to come and go from the world ( maybe like an orbiting meteor ) bring the magic to and from the world. the book follows mostly kyelle who is a said tide lord, in jail and being interviewed to see if he is mad as he claims to be a tide lord (an immortal wizard) as the tide is out (no magic around) and has been out for 2-300 hundred years no one believes in tide lords any more. its like interview with a vampire crossed with the intrigue of politics of a roman senate or GOT if ur into your modern hyped up comparisons. I highly endorse this book (for what my humble endorsement means) and hope you all enjoy it.

A Hidden Gem

Cannot stress enough how much I enjoyed this series.

It's fun and intriguing. Great concept, great world building, and characters that are dynamic, ever developing and full of surprises.

This writer never came onto my radar until I got this audiobook on offer. Took me just two months to storm through the entire quartet.

Fallon is an expert at the whole "Never answer a question until you've asked a fresh one" theory. She keeps you completely bound to the events that unfold.

She also, just "Get's it". I got chills in the fourth and final book when she really starts tackling her concept for immortality. The ending is worth every penny.

Can't recommend enough.

but horrible leading character

Would you listen to The Immortal Prince again? Why?

No. This is not the type of novel you will read twice.

Any additional comments?

The protagonist is incredibly annoying, stubborn, holier than thou know-it-all who is full of herself from beginning to end, and an intellectual who is completely unsympathetic to other people.

An excellent story that was narrated superbly

I wasn't sure what to expect when I first started this book but I found the story to be intriguing. To put it simply: the story tells the tale of a depressed immortal ,who at one time controlled the power akin to a god, as he tries to prove his existence to a scientificly minded sceptic. However as we learn throughout this story not everything is as it seems and almost everyone has one secret or another to hide.

Great characters, great reading

Well developed characters, food pace, fantastic read. Just couldn’t put it down.
Beautifully read, will certainly look out for other books narrates by John Teller.
Thank goodness the only hope we have is not just in this life! The noted boredom with eternal living is a great contemplation, where does knowledge ends? As I say it’s as well for those who believe in life after death really have better things to look forward to...

Surprisingly Gripping.

Quite an interesting read. Leaves you wondering what will happen next.

Though the writer took a strong character and erode all the things that made her strong.

Good start of a series

The fast paced story, quite interesting characters, and the use of Tarot. Will definitely continue.
