Publisher's Summary

The operators face their demons

Mission complete, Alpha team enjoys their first chance to breathe and tend to their humanity. But the darkness leaves them alone with their demons - and those who have found love may yet learn that it is fatally incompatible with duty...

The carrier faces unimagined threats

The JFK steams for Africa, despite rumors of lone Zulus still wandering below decks. But when Dr. Park and Sarah Cameron are trapped in an isolated compartment, they learn that one Zulu can kill you just as dead as ten million - while up on the flight deck, a lone assassin inflicts horrific damage on the hopes for a cure...

London preps for humanity's last stand

Amarie and the Tunnelers find themselves resettled in a chillingly post-Apocalyptic London, where mini-outbreaks are hushed up, and the displaced will cut your throat just to take your shoes - all as history's largest fixed fortification goes up along the M25 ring-road around the Capital...

The royal marines drop into hell

Lieutenant Jameson and his battered Royal Marines launch by air to retrieve a rare biomedical device, which is indispensable to developing a vaccine - but which lies buried at the center of a perilously rotting structure in a city of millions (all dead). When the walls come down, and the horde descends, Jameson may be the last man standing - and his only chance of survival lies with a lone Apache pilot who refuses to obey her orders to abandon him... Hope survives - but the story of humanity is not yet written.

    "Still going strong"

I have really enjoyed this series and am clearly not alone. It continues to deliver maximum zombie action and a fast pace. I would say that for the first time I think perhaps the story could have done with a little more depth around the scenes in London. Some more effort to build on the atmosphere and situation for the characters there.

That said, this series has been fast-moving from the start so I may be splitting hairs. I still can't wait for the next one to appear on Audible!

The fact they take the time to develop the characters across the whole series so far gives you a feeling of engagement without getting boring. You genuinely are willing them on and to succeed. I am more of a sci fi person but I am gripped with this series.

Each book tells more of the story and you just want to know what happens next.

good story but painstaking detail and catastrophe upon catastrophe drains the chance of 5 stars. I would like to hear the main plotline move on a bit quicker

This story is not as good as previous books. Not a lot really happens and it is a much slower pace- especially compared to the previous book. I mean at the end of this book alpha team still haven't even left for Africa...

You could give this one a miss and only really miss a few things. I feel a bit let down because this series did really take off last book but this one has some key flaws.

Overall read this if you are really into the storyline, but if you are just casually going through the series its definitely one you could afford to skip.

    "A little bit of calm"

To say that the last 5 books were just a zillion miles a minute would be putting it mildly, but after the huge battle to save the JFK this was a good time to take a breather, recoup, think things through. See what and how these guys and gals can move forwards.

This doesn't mean that this part isn't thrilling, there are some real scary situations for everyone, from the surviving tunnelers, and the ops mission to retrieve the BioForce. It can't get any harder for these people, but it does, and it still manages to have us on the edge of our seats, everything is riding on these huge tasks to come together and all at the right time. It's not going to be easy, there are some huge losses and it tests everyone to their utmost 'give' up level.

Excellent narration as ever, I am not gonna be happy when this series is over, I'll have a major book hangover. Well an audiobook hangover....

Book 6 was a perfect continuation of the last, and it provided more depth into the characters. I can't wait for the remaining books to be put out in audiobook format. R. C. Bray is perfect!

This is such a fantastic serjes, the best in so many ways. Besides all of the superb elements you would expect in this genre of fiction, I find the writing the most witty. I find myself laughing out loud when the "operators" make their wise cracks.

"My new standard for five star perfection!"
Would you listen to The Horizon again? Why?

The only bad element of this series is I can't listen to anything else; nothing offers the same experience. This edition to this series is easily as good as the last and it just keeps going and getting better. I usually look forward to a good ending; I hope this series never does. The characters, THE NARRATION (absolutely the best of the best) and the flow of this series has me driving unnecessarily for hours and miles so I can find out what happens next. For the first time the end snuck up on me, wasn't expecting it and was a little sad it got here, come on #7!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Horizon?

When I hit select and purchased 5.0. That was the beggining of my most enjoyable listining experience yet and a visit to a world created by a master story creator and absolutely the most creative narrator in the business, without exception.

    Any additional comments?

Take all my other ratings and throw them away, I have a new standard.

    "Over before you knew it"

I guess it's a little like speed blindness; compared to the last book and the battle of the JFK this book seems so slow and suddenly it was over before I realized; with the worse cliff hangar ending ever!

Good opportunity to get to know the characters as they sail on the Kennedy, I'm finally able to tell whose who now, rather than they all being anonymous tough guys. Even Park was cool to get to know. I'm so glad that there are no twits you hate like in other books. Nice book, keep reading!

    "Just take my money!"

This book has to be the worse value ever! I mean I liked it so much I played the stupid thing at 2 x speed. I just couldn't wait to hear what would happen next. So an 8 and half hour book became just over 4 hours long. That meant I was burning through my money faster than I was earning! Michael Fuchs and Glynn James can just continue to take my money because I still don't see an end in sight for this series.

I could sum this one up with 'stop it, I like it!'

I do not know how the authors of this series sleep at night with this knowledge regarding my hard earned cash. Oh I know on a mattress stuffed with money I bet!

If you are reading this review and you haven't listen to any in the series so far. Do yourself a favour and get into it. Just be prepared to buy all of them!

    Any additional comments?

THE best zombie/military series out there, bar none, and I believe I've read most of them. Unlike other books in this genre, these authors aren't afraid to make the zombie hordes as dangerous as they should be, the guts as gory as they would be, and the characters as shell shocked as could be expected. On the zombie side it stays scary yet (near)believable, and on the military side they capture one thing that other authors can not: as one SEAL who was consulting for Hollywood said "Our combat is faster and more violent than can be filmed"(para).. these guys actually begin to capture the 'finesse, flare, and smiling contempt of danger' that special operators see as normal everyday business. The military side of these novels would shine even if the enemy wasn't zombies, the zombie side would shine even if the military side didn't absolutely foxtrot rock(and it does!)

    "A tough act to follow..."

Another excellent installment of the Arisen series. This one starts out a little slow but picks up to its usual thrilling action. The battle for the carrier will be a tough act to follow, but I have my hopes. We move now to Fortress Britain and then Africa to search for supplies to develop the antidote or cure. A surprise waits for them off the coast of Africa. There are at least two more books in the series, so lots of action and adventure yet to come.
