She adores bringing her spells to life in surprising ways, from learning the power of distortion to creating a beloved paper dog. And she secretly hopes that the romance she foresaw blossoming between her and the peculiar yet strikingly handsome Emery finally becomes real.

But when one magician with a penchant for deadly scheming believes that Ceony possesses a secret, he vows to discover it… even if it tears apart the very fabric of their magical world. After a series of attacks target Ceony, and catch those she holds most dear in the crossfire, she knows she must find the true limits of her powers… and keep her knowledge from falling into wicked hands.

    "Gripping!"

Read the series in order. Book one is the Paper Magician and is great. This book keeps up the pace and thrills you with the action and characterisation. I sulked when I had to put it aside for work.

I'm off to find book three, shhh, don't talk to me till I'm done. :)

Good story. Well narrated. Yet it could've had more plot. Still, I'm looking forward to listening to the third book. Enjoying the series.

I was disbelieving that the accents could be worse than last time, but it really was.
The story is good. A little predictable at times, however enjoyable all the same

I enjoy fantasy books the most, including the grimdark stuff. However I do try other types of books once in a while.

"If only they had a better narrator..."

This one is better than the first one, and at least I knew what to expect in terms of the gruesome bloody scenes. The story was fast-paced and interesting.

However, the narrator's bad British accent was even worse this time. What's weird is that I heard her narrate in a normal American accent and it was fine - she should maybe stick to what she's good at.

A great and, for me, highly anticipated sequel. I love this series of books and the narration really brings the characters to life.

Read or listen and you won't be disappointed.

Was looking forward to listening up this but the incorrect words ie pants instead of trousers and trash instead of rubbish with an American/Canadian accent were really annoying. Not as good as first book although the same criticism applys

    "Don't bother"
Would you try another book written by Charlie N. Holmberg or narrated by Amy McFadden?

Definitely not ( Although for completeness I will read the 4th installment but I have zero hopes for it!)

Would you ever listen to anything by Charlie N. Holmberg again?

Not if I can help it. The storyline is nonexistent. Better research is needed, don't write about a place you've never been to without researching first! Author seems to think a lavatory contains a bath... that would be a BATHroom! This is just one of many many mistakes.

Would you be willing to try another one of Amy McFadden’s performances?

By a different author maybe. I'm willing to give her another chance and put it down to poor writing.

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

None spring to mind. There was zero plot, poor research and all the characters are one dimensional.

    "Fun historical fantasy"
    Any additional comments?

Well into her apprenticeship with Emery Thane, 20-year-old Ceony Twill is still studying folding magic. She has, however, been harboring the secret that she can also wield other magics as well. Although she has told no one of her secret, two men from her and Emery’s past are convinced that she knows the secret behind wielding multiple magics. Vowed to stop at nothing to get the secret from her, Ceony knows she must discover the true limits to her powers before it’s too late. Will she succed? Will Emery figure out her secret?

Narrator, Amy McFadden does a great job of bringing to life Ceony's world. Her unique voices provide the listener with a unique, versatile narrative style. The plot is well developed, engaging, and keeps a fairly fast pace despite its historical setting. The characters are likable and humorous. The dynamics between them are enjoyable and McFadden easily navigates their dialogue. Readers who like to get to know the characters well will appreciate the mix of action adventure with the more serious matters of the heart. It does feel off for the time period, however, for Ceony to be so gung-ho about trying to solve her own problems without Emery’s help. Also, some of the battles with Grath and Sarag drag on a bit, but the humor and action mixed in make up for it. Recommended for those readers who like an action-packed, historical fantasy adventure.

Wonderful continuation of the series, got me excited for the 3rd book. The narrator, in my opinion, seems to capture the thoughts and feelings of the main character extremely well as she goes throughout her journey.

"Don't even waste 2$ on the audio version."
Would you try another book from Charlie N. Holmberg and/or Amy McFadden?

I love these books but the audio version was terrible! I turned it off and went back to reading . Narrator was too fast and grating voice, accents were laughable, and her character narrations seem to change personality.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The butler! I can just see him cleaning.

What three words best describe Amy McFadden’s voice?

    fast, nonconvincing, grating

Could you see The Glass Magician being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

yes hmmmm good question on the stars.

    Any additional comments?

Stopped the audible version before it ruined the book for me - and I love the book series.

"A good sequel to the Paper Magician"
What made the experience of listening to The Glass Magician the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed the lighthearted tale and characters in the Paper Magician so I went on to read the Glass Magician. It was just as entertaining as the first book and I found the narration to be a bit less hurried which made for more enjoyable listening. Nice escape from all the tragic headlines and news of the day. Reading this book is a nice respite from reality!

    "Very Good"

Reading the first is necessary I think, to understand the characters and their motivation, but this second book I feel is better. The story jumps right onto the action, and keeps a rapid pace until the end.

The narrator does an amazing job creating the characters. Helping me grow found of the main females's annoying traits.

I really enjoyed this novel and am eager to start the next. On more than one occasion while listening I thought about how this story could be made into a movie.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If the narrator didn't switch accents. He characters live in Britain and therefore have British accents. That makes sense. Why the narrator changes to an American accent when reading from the third person continues to puzzle me. The story in this book was better than the first book. It still falls short and is poorly written. Such a waste of an interesting idea.

If you’ve listened to books by Charlie N. Holmberg before, how does this one compare?

    Better than the first book.

What character would you cut from The Glass Magician?

I don't think I would cut any of the characters but I would change the main character, Ceony, from being such an idiotic twit.
