Summary

After untold centuries of absence, the evil Ancients have returned. Their magic appears unstoppable and their hunger for conquest is insatiable. To protect the country of Nia, Duchess Nadea and Scholar Paug make a desperate journey to find a human legend: a man known to have destroyed these Ancient foes with a powerful army.

But legends can lie.

When Paug and Nadea revive their hero from sleep, his virtue is far from clear.

Is he really their savior or their destroyer?

Contains mature themes.

Good

I enjoyed this audio book. The story is fairly unique and even the flashbacks are interesting.

I know other people commented on the narrator, I quite liked him. Sometimes a poor narrator trying to do different accents of different voices can be very distracting, in this case whilst a bit more emotion would be nice the clear and concise narration was enjoyable. .

The sex scenes are a bit cringe but the author spends an equal amount of time describing food and battles.

Overall a good story but unlikely to be one I would revisit for another listen

story ok, bit cringe

Story is ok with decent world building. sex is a focus for the guy but I don't know if it cringe becus of the narrator or the author. speaking about the narrator, i feel he miss reads the emotions of the character and has a constant panic in his voice like he has a gun to his head. narrator ruined the book for me 😑

Good concept, a bit slow

I like the idea for the plot, and the first half of the book is pretty gripping. However as the book goes on there are a few chapters that are entirely pointless and distract from the story. Paug very quickly grew dull and I skipped several of his later chapters.

The narrator has a good voice but a very robotic delivery. There is no effort made to make characters sound at all distinctive or different.

The story is great ...the narator not so much.

Even thou I loved the story the monoton voice of the narato almost ruint it for me. thire was no atempt on having any emotied impakt by changing tone of voice. sex seen, blody slaughter and lunch plans are all naratot with the same almost emotineless vocie. if it is the sam narator on the nekst book i will by it in an other format.

Decent story, good narration

Simply awfully written sex scenes, clumsily written peppered, all to frequently, throughout the story, tainting an otherwise promising story.

i kind of liked it, and it pulled me in from the first chapter, and the ending was great, but I struggled with the characters being that horny...

Would go on about the lack luster performance of the narrator but his diction was was fine even though his range is almost none existent
