Publisher's Summary

Fantasy author David Dalglish continues his series of the half-orc brothers, whose struggles have released demon fire across the land of Dezrel.

After a bloody conflict with his brother, Qurrah Tun flees west with his lover, the strange and powerful Tessanna.

He seeks a powerful tome known as Darakken's spellbook, guarded by paladins and priests of light. Qurrah hopes to cure Tessanna's madness, but his newly returned master, Velixar, has far greater plans for the tome.

Only Harruq Tun and his friends can stand against the darkness his brother has unleashed. Velixar wants the throne and the secret that it hides, and to do so he will lay siege to the great city of Veldaren.

The gods' final war has begun, and the blood is on Harruq's hands.

"Epic story continues in dramatic fashion"

Initially I found this episode to be a little slower to get into than the previous one as the focus was on characters that didn't interest me as much as some of the other main characters.

However, the rapid rate of progress on the overall story-line soon hooked me as the author ramped things up quite nicely, even if he did feel the need to add in one shocking moment that was nowhere near as effective as similar incidents in the previous book.

The narrator continues to produce strong performances in this series, getting across distinct voices and personalities of each character very well to enhance my overall impression of the book.

"A great continuation of an epic story"

Right away the first thing you notice is the quality of both the writing and narration. Both are brilliant, the well written deep characters with their own emotions and goals are greatly enhanced by masterful voice acting will keep you listing and invested in what happens to the characters. In addition to that, the battles are fast paced, detailed and tense. It is not common for you to get both well-written characters and battle this good together.

As with the others in this series, It is clearly in a Dungeons and Dragons type setting with swords, magic, gods, apparent character classes. If you know what a D20 is and like audiobooks give this one a go.

The characters are extremely well done and this series of books is one of the best out there. Each character has their own unique voice that truly fits them perfectly. It truly has emotional weight pulling not punches, horrible things happen and it is not OK nor should it be and each character reacts to these things in their own way. It feels like the characters are not slaves to the plot it is their actions, their decisions that move the story forward.

To truly appreciate this book you have to have listened to the previous ones in the series, it will add a lot to the characters development and emotions but I will stand on its own as an interesting book. The characters journey and development all the way from the first book has been believable and some of the best examples of character development in fiction I have encountered.

Yet again both C.J. McAllister the narrator and David Dalglish the author have done amazing work, I can not wait to listen to the next book in this series.

I would highly recommend listening to this book but listen to the first two first for maximum enjoyment.
5/5 one of the best books I have listened to this year.

    "great action packed adventure"

I really enjoyed this story the action was intense and well written. The characters are likeable with the narrator making each one distinctive making it easy to not get them confused.

even though I received this copy to provide a non-biased review I can honestly say that I will be buying the previous two of the series and following the series through to the end.

    "Too morbid for my taste."
What disappointed you about The Death of Promises?

The first few chapters of this book were kinda boring and didn't interest me much. And later on, it turned quite morbid. There is just way too much violence / blood letting for my taste.

Has The Death of Promises turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, I love epic fantasy novels.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The sound design was good in this book. And the narrator did a good job of narrating the story.

    Any additional comments?

"D & D style fantasy at its best"

This is the third installment of the half orc brothers series. The authors fantasy works are reminiscent of RA Salvatore. The characters are as diverse and interesting the storylines are wonderful they span multiple books. The plots interesting the twists are shocking and surprising. The narrator does a spectacular job with a variety of voices and manages to convey all of the feelings of the author wishes to inspire. The series can be picked up with any book that I highly recommend starting from the beginning. Can't wait for the next installmentI was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

    "An Awesome Listen"

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. I found this novel addicting. At times I was angered by the author's choices in the direction of the plot, but I could not turn it off. I had to keep listening to see what was going to happen next. The main characters are a collection of interesting personalities, that swirl around the lives and choices of two brothers. The brothers have accepted their choices and the battle of between the light and the dark is on. I'm looking forward to listening to the next book. They are just the right length for a cross country road trip.

"Another good entry to this series"

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Another solid entry in this series. It picks up right where the previous book left off. This had a lot more chaos, fighting, and good ole fantasy story telling. I enjoyed this as much, if not more, than the last one.

    "More of Qurrah and Harruq..."
    Any additional comments?

The story line picks up right after the last book has ended.

Qurrah is on a quest to find a mythical spell book he hopes will be able to

cure his girl friend but the book that he finds is not what he was expecting.

Overall, an engaging third installment that is filled with chaos, a battle, and redemption.

C.J. McAllister did well with the narration.
