Summary

Ananna of the Tanarau abandons ship when her parents try to marry her off to an allying pirate clan. But that only prompts the scorned clan to send an assassin after her. And when Ananna faces him down one night, armed with magic she doesn't really know how to use, she accidentally activates a curse binding them together. To break the curse, Ananna and the assassin must complete three impossible tasks all while grappling with evil wizards, floating islands, haughty manticores, runaway nobility, strange magic, and the growing romantic tension between them.

An okay read

The storyline is quite interesting enough. I got a bit miffed with Annana's character though - there's something annoying about a character that persistently asks stupid questions and does really stupid things, runs around screaming when something happens and acts like a petulant child.
She does redeem herself with bravery and the occasional bout of intelligence though....all in all, an okay story and a very good performance.
couldn't make up my mind whether it should have been a teen story or a young adults novel though........

Cassandra Rose Clarke's Enthralling Tale

While many of the ingredients in Ms. Clarke's story aren't particularly novel, such as a young lady fleeing from an arranged marriage, having to throw her lot in with an apparent bad guy and being chased across the globe by true evil, she weaves them together and binds them into a tale that is both original and enthralling.

As I often do, I switch between the Kindle and the Audible version. Tania Rodrigues really nails the narration. She deftly jumps between Ananna and her erstwhile assassin, Naji. Pacing and annunciation are perfect even while she vocally portrays the drama of the various situations the characters inhabit. This is the first book Ms. Rodrigues narrates that I've heard; she's first rate. (As of this post, Assassin's Curse seems no longer available on Audible. I hope that's rectified soon.)

A magical journey that you don't want to get off!

This book was very thrilling and heart pounding! I really liked it! The reason for a four star review is the mass use of cursing, which is a personal dislike, not necessarily an overall downfall. My preference with curing is minimal or close to none. Another issue in had with it was Annanna's whiny character, but then she was a spoiled pirate princess and a teenager. Anyways, or adored this book nonetheless!

Atrocious Grammar

If you're irked by bad grammar don't grab this book. It's like the author was trying to attempt some sort of Huckleberry Finn effect with the dialog of only the main character, but it came off as trite and not thought out. The story itself isn't interesting enough to help you look past the grammar either.

One of my favorite stories.

The story is not super complex but it has a nice past to it. This is my third time listening to it and enjoy as much as the first two time.

Enjoyable listen!

I've been wanting to read this for a while! great narration. I was glad when I found it on Audible. It went quickly. I wish it had a little more action, but I'm looking forward to the next book!

A flare of Arabian Night... The modern way.

Where does The Assassin's Curse rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I found this book enjoyable. Indeed you may wont to be some what of a younger listener or like the saga approach to books.
I did found it well written and narrated and a time pleaser (the books I listens to are mostly to keep my mind at a pace whilst I illustrate other books).
