Publisher's Summary

Brett Russell is a hunter of the rarest game. His targets are cryptids, animals denied by science. But they are well known by those living on the edges of civilization, where monsters attack and devour their animals and children and lay ruin to their shantytowns. When a shadowy organization sends Brett to the Congo in search of the legendary dinosaur cryptid Kasai Rex, he will face much more than a terrifying monster from the past. Spinosaurus is a dinosaur thriller packed with intrigue, action, and giant prehistoric predators.

    "An interesting idea, gone wrong"

I got this book on a whim as I had a few spare credits available.
Where to begin. The lady reading the text pauses where there shouldn't be pauses in.....a........sentence, this made it.....almost too annoying to listen to, but I kept on going just in case. Sadly it didn't improve much.
The story itself, as I said, an interesting idea, however, By the end of chapter one I know who the bad guy was, not what he was going to do but who it was. The removal of one line of dialogue would have kept me guessing. Throughout the book Crocodilians are referred to as amphibians, 10 seconds on google would have given the correct answer. There were a few plot holes you could chase a Spinosaurus through, sadly, a few allowed my disbelief to not only be suspended, but to head off on vacation.
Was it a bad story...not really- some proper proof reading would have ironed out some of the issues.
Now to be fair, there were some good points, the prologue had me going, a really good idea. Some mind games in there too...did they or didn't they?
To be honest, I don't know what age this was aimed at, however no matter what age the issues still apply.
