    "Really interesting fantasy audiobook"

Book started slowly but soon it became fastpaced and really interesting. Lots magic and fantasy elements. Narration was good. Great author notes. Will have to take another look at them and maybe try more books written in same universe😄

    Story
    "Offshoot series from Kurtherian universe"

*Spoilers* Set in the future of Earth after Bethany Anne & Michael have traveled into space, nanos & magic spread into the population; many weren't able to handle the etheric requirement & went mad; the mad were stopped & mankind grouped together to protect & rebuild. Ezekial, the Founder of Arcadia and primary architect of this new peace, decided to go a-travelin, & left his main student Adrian in charge. Adrian's power hungry urges went unchecked and a secret tyranny has been created. Only the rich who can pay off Adrian can send their children to the Academy for training. The poor who show magical ability are rounded up and killed. Ezekial is shocked at the abuse and inhumanity and decides to take action. Luckily, he witnesses the spontaneous magical actions of Hannah to save her brother's life; and decides to train her, as she can use all 3 types of magic. Ezekial believes Hannah has the ability to become an even greater mage than he is, and can be pivotal in ousting Adrian. Rudd does an excellent job with this narration. Must read for Kurtherian addicts (?) devotees (?) Enjoy!

    "Magic 101"

A thoroughly engaging and enjoyable story of magic, government and a young girl with a power she never knew she had. The cast is full of strong characters, heroes and sidekicks who lean to the chaotic neutral side of the scale, willing to do what they need to do to survive but not really evil ... and then there are the government types ... uncompromising, self-interested and sometimes down right evil. This leads to an epic clash of wills and wits that will keep you breathlessly listening.
Funny, sad, thought-provoking, this was a story that makes me want to go read everything from this universe.

    "Great story of illegal magic."

I thought this well written tale was quite exciting. I adore the kind hearted smart mouthed young woman who didn't know she could do magic. Her sidekick, Parker, is a terrific character too. I highly recommend this first in the series. I voluntarily reviewed this audio book after receiving an advanced copy.

    "A terrific magical fantasy adventure"

Restriction is a terrific fantasy adventure that starts a new series which follows the Kurtherian Gambit series. The book has lots of action and interesting characters including a strong female lead. The narrator of the audio version does a great job.

This book can be enjoyed independently, but many plot lines are left unresolved at the end, so you will probably want to continue reading the series.

    Contains "adult" language.

    Story
"Strangers to walk the halls of the mind"

After The Madness the magic came. From the chaos, the Founder forged a new world and Arcadia was built, a city to be prosperous, safe and free for all. And then he left, handing the ongoing care to his best student. But as the years passed, the ethos of the city slowly eroded, the security of the state and prosperity of it's leaders becoming all, the citizens neglected and magic itself banned to all except the high status families. Memories of the past faded into legend.
Hannah lived in the slums; she hadn't been granted magic training. She had no idea that she had magic in her. So when it emerged, she didn't understand what had happened, at first. But others saw - and she became one of the 'unlawfuls' to be hunted down and killed.

Nicely written from various perspectives, this is a pleasant fantasy story with well deliniated characters, especially that of Hannah, who's personality as a cynical young girl just trying to keep herself and her brother alive shines through whilst still giving the impression of one who can still care. The balance between action and groundwork preparation is good, providing a clear entry to the 'what happens next?' of an ongoing series.
Kate Rudd's well paced reading fully interprets the storyline text, with good intonation and understanding. She also plucks miriad different voicings for the characters and that of Hannah, I particular, is very well expressed, her conversational responses seeming very real and life-like. Apart from the occasional editting glitches, especially the long repeated lines left in chapter 19, this is a very good narration which definitely increases the pleasure of the story experience.

This is a book to relish if magic (and dragons) and the battle between caring for people over the list for power is your reading choice. Well written and narrated, it promises to be the start of an excellent series.

"A wonderful Series in the making"

I have not read any books in this world (series?) this is based on. I didn't even know there was one till the notes given by the author's after the story. That being said you don't need to. This is a good place to start if you do not know about the other books.

I love this book, its just the right about of fun and seriousness. The voice actress is wonderful. I cant wait to read the next book as well.
If your looking for a fantasy book to listen too here you go.

I was given this book for free in exchange for an unbiased review, thank you so much.

"Magic, A Dragon and a Novice Magic Wielder."

I really enjoyed this story of Hanna and her quest to avenge the lose of her family. I believe that this story is very promising as it develops more details about Hanna's growth as a person of magic. I am looking forward to exploring this world of magical entities and reading about the many other creatures that will be added to this story.

    Story
    "A Magical Dystopian World"
If you could sum up Restriction in three words, what would they be?

Just another dystopian world with magic in the back ground.

Would you be willing to try another book from the authors? Why or why not?

No. The author does not fully develop the characters or the world. Jumps around to much for me.

What does Kate Rudd bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She does a great job reading the book and making the characters different from one another.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. Had to break it up.

    Any additional comments?

The author needs to develop the world a bit more for my taste.

    Story
    "Clear and enjoyable"

I enjoyed listening to the novel during my drives to different activities. The story is about a young woman who's magic activates when she helps her brother survive a seizure in an open market area. She catches the eye of different people, some whom are scared and call authorities. The authorities chase and corner her and threaten her. Another person steps in and saves her from the worst of their intentions. Her savior takes her under his wing and teaches her how to use her magic and restore the city.
The story flowed easily and the narrator spoke clearly without mumbling or stumbling over the text. She brought the characters to life by using different voices and kept them consistent through the whole novel. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys fantasy. I give this book 3 out of 4 stars.
