Summary

A new novel in the Monster Hunter Memoirs series. Two authors, who combined have over four million books in print and 10 New York Times best sellers, team up to expand Larry Correia's Monster Hunter universe!

Nightmare in the Big Easy

With New Orleans out of control, Chad Oliver Gardenier, one of Monster Hunter International's premier hunters, has been dispatched from Seattle to reinforce the beleaguered members of MHI'S Hoodoo Squad in their fight against the darkness.

Chad had once taken a werewolf while wearing only jogging gear. With half a dozen or more loup garou appearing every full moon, mysterious shadow demons, houdoun necromancers, 50-foot bipedal crocodiles showing up every couple of months, and more vampires than a Goth concert, New Orleans in the '80s gives a whole new perspective to the term hell on earth. In fact more monsters are popping up than crawfish at a fais do do! Chad may be able to collect enormous bounties for the monsters he kills. But there's one catch: He has to stay alive to do it!

Really good story

Great story, fast and intense and fun. Slightly different format than in the first book, this is much more continuous. Not entirely certain how I feel about the ending, i’m sort of over and underwhelmed by it at the same time. The whole book is a little bit darker than grunge, although there are still some fun moments, I’m not entirely certain but I think a gnome might have survived a 50 Cal shot and possibly more fun could have been had with them.

Enjoyable but seemed unfinished

Have enjoyed the series of MHI books and these two, (Grunge and Sinners) are no exception.

However, I was left with quite a few questions that were not answered at the end of the book: who or what is burrowing and making the necromancers more powerful, who was responsible for the last uprising of mantis lobsters, did they stop the person responsible? What is the story behind Chad killing his brother. What happened to MHI New Orleans and Chad did he stay, retire, continue with a new team?

Perhaps another book to finish the storyline, plus what happened to chad in the end, could be finished by Milo if chad went to the greenlands.

Love the narration by oliver wyman, really grabs your attention. There are some very funny one liners and laugh out loud moments in both books.

Overall, I have enjoyed the series of monster hunter books

Good story worse listening to

This is a good story, but I think I still prefer the first of the two memoirs this less tongue in cheek stuff in this book and the previous one but still very much worth listening to

Wyman great, story ok.

Wyman as usual pulls it out the bag, however the story it's self lacked a bit of tempo.

Absolutely fantastic, dark and gritty.

I've listened to all but 1 of the MHI books on Audible and the Chad books are my favourite, I don't know why as he's not the most likeable character especially as I'm a women and I find some of his behaviour and attitudes quite distasteful but he's also one of the most believable and normal characters, I like how he just gets on with everything and nothing phases him, im not religious but I appreciate the way his view on the afterlife is written and he doesn't excuse his behaviour or lie about it, he just is! the monsters are great as usual but this is definitely a grittier book, more death but again it's just got on with. I love all the MHI books! heres hoping for more!
