Die Moskauer Metro war schon immer ein Ort der Mythen. Mit seiner postapokalyptischen Sci-Fi-Reihe hat Dmitry Glukhovsky der Untergrundbahn ein düsteres Denkmal gesetzt. Mittlerweile gibt es sogar das Video Game "Metro: Last Light", an dessen Handlung der dritte Teil nahtlos anschließt: Der junge Held Artjom muss erneut die Menschen, die in den U-Bahn-Schächten Moskaus leben, retten. Seuchen, Nahrungsmittelknappheit und Konflikte drohen die Gemeinschaft zu zerstören. Die Rettung könnte an der Oberfläche liegen, doch dort lauern schreckliche Gefahren...

Seit ein verheerender Atomkrieg zwanzig Jahre zuvor die Erde verwüstet hat, haben die Menschen in den Tiefen der Metro-Netze eine neue Zivilisation errichtet.
