Publisher's Summary

Perry Stone hasn't gotten over his fear of being outside and he still hasn't settled into life in the Empire's Navy. After months of legal wrangling over his last assignment, he has been given a new assignment. He was looking forward to getting a new posting on a spaceship or a station. The problem is that his new job is on a planet. Worse, once there, the base is overrun by the enemy aliens and now Stone is trapped outside on a hostile planet, injured, and hunted by aliens bent of killing him.

    "DEHYDRATED MARINE"

HE WAS A GUY, AFTER ALL
I am going to have to admit that I thought I was getting book one in this sale. This is actually book 2, which is obvious when you start listening. I never could get into this. I felt that most of the jokes fell flat, their was too much detail and it was a bit sophomoric even for me. The narrator was so monotone, that all I heard was blah blah blah, nice butt, blah blah blah, I am seventeen, blah blah blah, why are her nipples hard? There are long periods, in which the conversation is very boring, numbering shuttles, deciding who rides in them and several logistic items, I don't care about. My mind would wonder and than I would realize that aliens are attacking and I would wonder how long have they been attacking and than I would think, I really don't care. After one attack the marines are picking up body parts of fellow marines and making jokes about it. It was in really bad taste, I thought.

"One of the best series I have read."

I love this series because the MC doesn't understand the trials he goes through. I think it funny that he doesn't see himself in as a leader but acts like it. He goes and learns what it takes to make those that follow you respect and follow you.

    "The adventure continues"

Our hero faces challenges and stands up for right while fighting alongside Marines against wrongdoers. In the meantime the main character faces challenges and changes in his own body that causes him to question his own sanity.
Interesting and unexpected turns in the storyline keep the listeners attention with the aid of an exceptional reader. I'm looking forward to the next installment.

"It was better than I thought."

It took about 12 to 15 chapters for the story to get going. Until then it's like listening to a guy play with his GI Joes.

It definitely an adult book which is ok, I just didn't expect it at first.

Once the story gets going it's pretty good.

The ending felt a little rushed, like he wasn't sure how to end it, or couldn't come up with a moral for the story.

    "Don't waste your time."

Struggled to finish , actually, it was a chore to listen from about chapter 3 on. The story borders on " fairytalish ". I could not ascertain if the storys dialogue was that "cheesy " or if the narrator was purposely trying his best to massacre the reading of it. If you enjoy books about Marines I would highly recommend "The Empires Corp's " series.

    Story
    "Puerile"

Full of details, no content. Aimed at teenagers judging from the hopeless stereotypes and focus on sexual attraction.

Reader does not help, whiny female voices and oblivious to pronounciation of military rank abbreviations, e.g. 1. Lt = First lieutenant, not 'One L T'.

    Cannot recommend.

    Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this story! It is interesting and humorous at the same time. The characters and aliens are well developed and intriguing. The only thing I questioned was how the enemy aliens fought. However I loved this tale and plan to move on to the next story in the series.

    "Aweful Juvenile Trite Drivel"

Yep, I HATED this book. I suffered through the first one - even though the Audible reviews said it truly BAD! But, Amazon reviews gave it pretty much 5 stars; so, I thought - maybe I'm missing something?! Nope, as painful as the first books was; this is even worse!

Also, the narration (which sometimes can save a mediocre book) was truly BAD. The narration was stilted and unnatural. To be fair though; it could have been the horrid writing which inspited the narrator to voice the protagonist as the oafish ignorant child that he was and every other character as embodiment of douchebaggery...

Well, anyway, a complete waste of money/credit - will return.
