Summary

They slept for hundreds of years, dreaming of a new home in the Andromeda galaxy. When finally they awake, their dreams of peace are shattered. These colonists - turian, salarian, asari, human, and more - face an uncharted galaxy and threats beyond understanding.

The Nexus is the core from which the colonists will explore their new home. Yet even before the arks arrive, the massive space station sustains critical damage. The entire mission is placed in jeopardy, and security director Sloane Kelly must reassert order while racing to identify the nature of the threat that faces them.

If she fails, the Andromeda Initiative could crumble.

A very average novel

This was quite a disappointing start to the new mass effect universe. All of the supposed professional specialists appear to have no abilities and are constantly outplayed by the amateurs. I find it difficult to believe that an expedition of thus type would have so many incompetent people in command. It was well read though.

Amazing

It was awesome to listen to Sara Ryder narrating this. I especially enjoyed the krogan voices.

It's ok, barely.

First of all I do not know how this ties in with the latest game since I did not play it. I did play the first games and I did like them but I do not remember much of the lore.

Back to the book:
It is less a SciFi than a social study in a SciFi setting.
It focuses to a disaster happening to a mixed group of pioneers.
Also the title could be "The road to hell" since it does focus on very good intentions.
No real bad guys in the story but in the end things really go south.

Anyway, it was ok, would not listen to again or recommend it.

Great prequel

serves as an amazing prequel to the game ME Andromeda, I only with it had released earlier in the year so I had this before the game.

Boring

It was very boring. I couldn't finish it. Stuck for too long on parts of the story that weren't important. Story moving very very very slow

Only for enthusiasts

If you're a big fan of Mass Effect Andromeda then this will help fill in the gaps of what happened prior to the game, but it's far from being a particularly good book. The pacing is slow and ponderous. You're better off reading a plot summary.

The reading was generally good and it was nice touch that they used the same VA that played female Ryder in the game.

Predictable story with nothing new.

Fails to capture the original brilliance and depth of the original trilogy. A predictable story and conclusion. The most interesting part of the story is the scourge, i kept reading with the hope we might fond out more about it. Hopefully thr next chapters of the successive books build on this and produce a story fans of the original deserve.

Deep insight

I'm a massive fan of the mass effect universe & why I liked the andromeda game there were alot of story gaps missing. This is a great prologue to the game, the narrator does a superb job with tones for different characters, its long & deep into what happen to the nexus on its arrival.

now on to book 2
