Publisher's Summary

Jorundyr's Path is walked only by the brave. It is survived only by the strong.

As Wulfric pursues Adalhaid's Blood Debt, he soon learns that the path to revenge is never easy, and the desires of men and the will of gods rarely meet. Aethelman seeks answers to questions long ignored. Rodulf chases power and wealth.

From the streets of Elzburg to the dry plains of Darvaros, Wulfric walks Jorundyr's Path and encounters a world larger than he could ever have dreamed of, filled with friends, enemies, and danger - the crucible from which heroes are forged.

    "Great story - fabulous narration."

Can't wait for book #3 - story is developing in a wonderful way. Narration by Simon Vance is top notch - as always.

    "Really good (almost great) book."

I really loved the first book and this one didn't disappoint... Simon Vance crushed the narration like he always does, and the characters where compelling and really well developed. I would have loved to give this book a 5 star rating, but I reserve those for books that are in my opinion flawless or very nearly so.

I had two problems with this book (neither of which should discourage anyone from spending a credit, it's definitely worth a listen)....

First and most important there are 5 main story lines going on at once and throughout the book I felt like the author jumped from one to another like he was fly-fishing. I would have liked to have had full chapters with each character rather than bouncing back and forth every 5-10 pages.

Second, this really felt like a the "middle" book in a trilogy. Yes, I know that it is the middle book in this trilogy, but it doesn't have the plot pacing and narrative structure you would expect from a standard well-written book. I was totally engrossed in the plot and immersed in the world, but when i heard "We hope you have enjoyed this program!" I was like, "huh... I guess you could just stop there, couldn't you?"

Regardless, I'm looking forward to the next book and can't wait to find out what happens next.

I don't see how this series doesn't have all 5 stars. My only complaint is that I have to wait for the next book to come out.

    "This book is so good!!!"

I loved this book even more than the first. While the first reads like a fairytale, in this one, the story and it's characters get more complex and the path becomes quite suspension. Loved it, can't wait for the next one!!

"I had high hopes.. They were not met."
Is there anything you would change about this book?

I really enjoyed the first book and I usually don't even consider reviewing a 2nd or 3rd book in a series as they are usually more of what you get in the 1st. Not the case here. Have you ever been watching television with some one who likes to watch 2 or 3 things at once? Every time one program gets good they switch the channel!? That is what this book is like. Totally abrupt perspective changes throughout the book. Since this is an audio book Ill explain using time instead of pages. There are character changes at some points in the book every 1-2 mins of listening. I could understand if they were all experiencing an event together and the writer was showing all the different perspectives of the event but the people are all over the place and have nothing to do with each other. Why? I have no idea, it added nothing to the story and made what could have been a great book, a very frustrating listen.

"Please return to the structure of book 1"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

I loved book 1 in the Wolf of the North and really looked forward to the sequel. I still like the story a lot and its characters, but I'm absolutely baffled by the use of chapter cuts and character jumps. I do no not understand the need for them and it is really distracting and confusing. I understand the need for chronological order, but going through chapters, or segments that last only a couple of sentences before moving the "reader"/"listener" to a new character and location does not make sense at all. I wanted to finish the book, but I really needed to grind my teeth to get through it. Such a loss.

If you’ve listened to books by Duncan M. Hamilton before, how does this one compare?

The structure is really different and distracting as mentioned above. I think mister Hamilton has a great talent for storytelling, but please move back to the original structure and pace, or at least keep to the characters for more than a scene or sentence.

Which character – as performed by Simon Vance – was your favorite?

Aethelman is my favorite, Simon really captures the character well I think.

Could you see Jorundyr's Path being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Well that is the point, it feels that the second book is shot as a fast paced and fast cut television series, and I really do not like it.

    Any additional comments?

I hope the story and characters gets a bit more depth. Because the author is focusing on 10 characters in the second book and it is quite short, none of the characters get the development they need.
