Publisher's Summary

Morgan and his extended family could see the light at the end of the tunnel, dim though it may be. There was the promise of power once again. The plant was being repaired, and it looked as though it may actually run. While it meant lots of hard, sweaty work, the reward was worth the investment. The farm was growing strong, and community involvement was good. People were finally coming to terms with the fact that they needed to work together. So far Mother Nature had been on their side. But that, too, was about to change.

There was no shortage of problems. There were those in town with their own plans. And those plans did not include Sheriff Morgan Carter. For the most part, Morgan ignored the issue, thinking it would simply go away. But that was not to be. He would have to face it head on, and it just may cost him his life. As serious as the issues in town were, there were other much larger problems brewing. These were beyond his control. They were beyond the control of the entire community, even if they were banded together. And Morgan would not be able to simply ignore them either. There were forces converging on Central Florida that would bring back the uncertainty that only recently appeared to be vanquished. Only this time it would be far worse than a rogue band of federal agents. War was coming, and with it death. It would test them all.

    "The Best Yet"

With a real twist in the tail, this has to be my favourite of this series.
It seems that some production has gone into this on the writing front and the story is more engaging than some of the previous books.
The narration by Duke Fontaine is excellent and it's a thoroughly enjoyable listen.
My only criticism is the over use of 'laughing' in various scenes.
Listen closely and you will see what I mean.

A continuation to the story yes but feels more like a plot interlude between books than progress in the story.

    "most boring yet in series"

this has been my favorite teotwawki series from the beginning. But this book was so disappointing and boring. there is so much more that should have happened that is put off till a later book. SO disappointed.

like usual though, Duke Fontane is an INCREDIBLE narrator!!

Hours of sophomoric banter with a weak plot. First 5 were the best in series

    "what a disappointment"

I seems like the author "phoned it in". The story was weak and (thankfully) short. Some of the most interesting characters have been compromised. Sarge has somehow morphed into Moe Howard! Duke Fontaine is great as always, and did his best considering the lame content.

"Not like the others in the series..."

After listening to the previous 7 books, I was excited to purchase the latest book. What a letdown.

The entire book is a story of the characters daily lives. The only exciting story in the book is the last chapter which is used to build up for the next book.

Book 8 feels thrown together with little creativity. I'm not saying I could have done better. Truth is, I really like the Going Home series, but this last book leaves a lot to be desired. I think this series is done.

    "Gitter Done"

So many lost opportunities to make the story interesting. insted, just a bunch of crude banter. Then, throw in a hanging and a nuke in the last mini chapter to bring you to the next book. A. American is obviously bored with this story, and judging from Cry Havoc, bored with writing completely.

    "Invasion, what invasion?"

I must say that I love this series, and have been waiting a long time for this book. I was relatively excited with the title, "Invasion" and couldn't wait to jump into it. So I did, and kept going. But line after line, page after page was just a disappointment. It was just filler, (spoiler alert) they have two, 2 small little skirmishes with the so called Invaders. nothing to live up to the title. the rest of the book was about a judge and a storm. Very disappointing. I guess the next book, will be about the invasion.

    "Boring"

Loved the first two books in the series, but this one is definitely jumping the shark. Also it took to long to setup and the story is no longer believable. I can suspend disbelief for a decent story line, but this one is definitely not story anymore. I'm sorry. I have a lot of his books and they are well written but this one wasn't believable. I wont give any spoilers away.

    "Disappointed..."

The whole book is as if the author made 2 books out of one. It feels like he took all the down time from the book and made it into it's own and then the action into another book that hasn't been released yet. My advice is to save your credits until book 9 comes out and maybe get them both then. Hopefully the it works out better next time.

    "never went anywhere"

this was a definitely a setup book, what I felt like was a waste of $20. all the other books in the series have been great. I felt like this book never really turned into anything that was interesting. I'm sure I'll buy the next one but I don't like buying setup books

    Any additional comments?

You can skip to the last hour or so in this book and not miss a beat. The first part is meaningless dialogue with weak attempts at humor. Disappointed to see the series drop so far.
