Publisher's Summary

A new side novel set in the Ascend Online universe!

Lazarus Cain is a member of the Grim Shadows, one of the Thieves Guilds in the city of Eberia. Unfortunately, Lazarus is having a bad day. Waking up in a torture chamber, suffering from amnesia, he'd be pretty much screwed if not for the mysterious, magical sigil burned into his chest.

Sometimes a really bad day should be shared with others, especially professional torturers.

Lazarus will need to use all his cunning and skill to work with his comrades, uncovering schemes within schemes, discovering that the Grim Shadows are not the only Thieves Guild in the city mired in conflict. What's more, the leaders of the other guilds, the Thief Lords, don't respond well to treachery.

"A well written companion story to "Ascend Online""

While it wasn't the story I had hoped to hear when I purchased it (without reading the synopsis), it flowed well and brought to life a different part of the game world where the story takes place. The whole time listening, I keep wanting to be able to join the game too... alas, no such creature exists...yet. If you enjoyed the first Ascend book, you should enjoy this one as well.

    "Another great book!"

Honestly, the title says it all. Great writing and great narration. If you see complaints about it not following the main characters, that's true BUT that doesn't mean it's any less important or good, in fact, I say it adds to the world Mr. Luke is creating by letting us know what's going on in other places in the game from the perspective of being there instead of learning about it through lengthy dialog between characters. Definitely worth a read/listen!

    "more!"

a story of the dark, while it failed to maintain some of the elements of the first book, this one just makes you want to crave more knowledge about this gantasy world.

    Story
    "interesting"

interesting way to continue the series
was jarring to not continue the story from the previous book...but I understand universe building

The references to the previous entry were appreciated and now I understand it's a greater battle between Creativity and her sister

"Not as good as the first book."

This book was not nearly as good as the first book.

Characters were blaw, story line was blaw.

Performance was the only good thing.

    "Hard to re-engage"

For some reason it was very difficult to pick this story back up. Missing the "character connection" I usually have when listening to subsequent books...

    "Can't wait for more"

I love these books. And as much as I would want to read instead of listen to them, this is one case where I feel like you would really be missing out on an outstanding vocal performance.

"Ascend online sets the standard for Litrpg"

From start to finish it was an awesome ride. I've been getting into litrpgs lately and have easily purchased close 12 of them now. Ascend online sets the bar pretty high, the story telling and narration is spot on. Luke Daniels kills it once again, becoming my favorite narrator. It's going to be hard listening to any other narrators now...
