not like mulder and scully

the author has invented friends/ family and associates for mulder and scully who do not seem canon. this rubbed me the wrong way.
their conversation was more like Buffy than X files.

Thought the characters were a little inconsistent.

The story was great, much like the X-Files we know and love but I thought the portrayal of Moulder and Scully were a but out of character in some parts.

The person who wrote this has no idea of X-Files

This is perhaps the most disappointing waste of time of my life.
The human who wrote it has no idea who Fox Mulder is, has no idea who Dana Scully is, has no idea what makes Xfiles Xfiles, is clueless about what makes Mulder, well, Mulder and Dana Dana.
Some dude is using these names and vomits a lot of nothings happenings in a bad and limited story. Some dude uses the names we know and tells a bad story without having any insight in the characters' psyche. Just using their names doesn't make it XFiles. This is an abomination, horrible and insulting. Don't bother. I added it to my library because it was free and because I love the X-Files but it simply isn't worth listening or occupying space on my device.

Good but drawn out

The performance and characters are great but the plot struggles to fill the book and feels dragged out.

The narrator and the characters....

Okay so like many other people have stated before me, the characters and the the interactions between them are just totally unlike the x-files characters. Scully and Mulder espcially do not act like themselves, this is a huge problem if you are expecting it as you listen. The other gripe I have is this narrator is aboslutely monotone he never changes his voice the entire time he is reading. I would have found someone else to read these books if I were a publisher. But that is just me. His reading makes it so boring to listen to and difficult to know which character is talking.

Substandard beginnings!

It never feels like it’s the characters from the tv show. It also takes half the book to get to the plot. Too many characters and it’s hard to differentiate from one to the next.
The gee golly narration is also irritating.

Awful

Made it halfway through, still to find anything recognisable as being from the X Files. The book dedication suggests the author is a fan of the show, but the characters, pace and awful writing bear little resemblance to it. Avoid

Forced myself to listen to the end

This is not an X-files story, it’s a bad written fantasy novel that takes more than half its length to get to the plot and then suddenly ends without insight or decent explanation of the case.

I can not recognize Mulder and Scully in this scenario and they don’t act like we’re used to.

The narrator is a problem of an entire other sort, no use of his voice or dialects, monotone and uninspired, absolutely not worth listening to.

Meh.

The book itself is kinda average, not a bad story but the characters just don't seem like their TV counterparts in my opinion.
The narrater... He just seems overly enthusiastic and it ruins some of the tense moments as he doesn't really change thr tone of his voice that well.

Disappointing.

Sadly this does not live up to the series. Mulder and Scully are not the characters they should be. They are paired with a couple of other agents to introduce an element of drama which falls completely flat. I felt the story idea had merit but the execution was poor.
The narration was OK but lacked nuance and was a bit reading by numbers.
