Summary

On the edge of the galaxy, a diplomatic mission to an alien planet takes a turn when the Legionnaires, an elite special fighting force, find themselves ambushed and stranded behind enemy lines. They struggle to survive under siege, waiting on a rescue that might never come.

In the seedy starport of Ackabar, a young girl searches the crime-ridden gutters to avenge her father's murder; not far away, a double-dealing legionniare-turned-smuggler hunts an epic payday; and somewhere along the outer galaxy, a mysterious bounty hunter lies in wait.

Galaxy's Edge combines sleek starfighters, exotic aliens, loyal bots, blasters, scoundrels, heroes, and powerful enemies in a thrilling adventure that will take you back to that magic place from a long time ago.

Difficult

This is a hard one for me to review. At the time I did not realise it was two books, so I was really enjoying the book then it jumped to seven years later and I did not recognise the characters and I just felt lost. I kept waiting to hear from Legionnaire Sergeant Cohen Chhun. Nope, don’t think I did! But I can’t give this book a negative review. I enjoyed it once I did a quick search on the book and found out it was more than one book. There is a series and this is the first two. So the first book is set on one world with one group of legionnaires. It’s very military with science fiction weaved in, (we are on a foreign planned in the future) there are aliens. The second book or 7 years later. We are following a young girl and her war bot/guardian, a legionnaire-turned-smuggler and his crew (starts up and him and a AI but expands)
and a bounty hunter. They are on a collision course with each other. This book we see a lot more of the universe or at lease a few different planets. I feel it’s a little less military but there are some good fights. It’s well narrated of course as it’s R.C. Bray I always enjoy his voice! I enjoyed the story very much, once I understood it was a second book.

Great Space Army Sci-fi

The characters and tech are great as is the story compelling. I loved that the second part keeps your intrigued guessing who the characters once were;
both move at a good pass.
R.C Bray could bring characters to the ingredients on cereal boxes, smashed it again.

Epic all through

Great story line and real feeling characters. R C Bray as the narrator was a grey choice as he brings it all to life

2 linked stories

If you could sum up Galaxy's Edge in three words, what would they be?

the first story is compelling but the second meanders and lost my interest a little

Would you be willing to try another book from Nick Cole and Jason Anspach ? Why or why not?

yes i am looking for the next release

Have you listened to any of R.C. Bray’s other performances? How does this one compare?

He is an excellent performer and as with this book i will give it a try if he is the narrator

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

not really

So so but ok

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you are looking for a story very similar to Star Wars this is for you

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

The jump in story is somewhat buzzkill, the following books likely will tie the story together but in the first book it kind of leaves you hanging.

Have you listened to any of R.C. Bray’s other performances? How does this one compare?

10 of 10 as usually

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There are a lot of good bits but the story jumps are annoying

Galaxy's Edge a well rounded story.

Really enjoyed this, interesting plot characters the draw you in and as usual R C Bray hits it on the nose.

I hope there is more to come.

The Perfect Narrator for an amazing book!

Would you listen to Galaxy's Edge again? Why?

Absolutely. The time flew by listening to this.

What did you like best about this story?

The writing was top-notch, and Bray's portrayal of Keel in part two was wonderful.

Which scene was your favorite?

Ravi and Keel's first appearance.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The galaxy is a dumpster fire.

War never changes.

QR: Great war story, dark humor, good first person.

From the first 10 minutes in you'll be hooked, RC Bray voices this war story perfectly. If you've ever served, you'll catch a lot of references that'll make you laugh. Even if you haven't, there is just the slightest bit of dark humor to keep the action moving. I would highly recommend it if your looking for that action book fix.

Good but fizzled.

About three forths of the way through the plot loses cohesion and while interesting the book never recaptures the initial momentum.

bit of a disconnect between parts

this is a good space adventure but there seemed to be quite a disconnect between part one and part two. it takes a while to catch up and the ending leaves you hanging. obviously there has to be more book forthcoming but I feel as though there should have been a bridge between the two parts. the narration is masterful although he used his Skippy voice for a truly dreadful character in this book. and if you know Bray you should know about Skippy the meh by now.

wild ride!

if you're into military sci-fi, then this book is a must read! if you're not into military sci-fi, then this book still is a must read! every time I think R.C. Bray can't out do himself, he out does himself, fantastic performance by Bray. The story starts off semi segmented, but don't let that bother you, because it all falls together nicely. I can't wait for book 2!

KTF

I've been waiting for this book for MONTHS. The story sucks you in with the first line and never lets up even if you try to tap out. Great story, great performance, and I'm ready to pre-order the next one. You get 2 books for the price of 1 credit, so stop standing around reading this review and buy it already.

As scrambled as Rex’s Memories

This book was all over the place in time, stories, flashbacks, character development, character devolution, numerous subplots, and left a lot of questions to be answered. R.C. Bray did an outstanding performance and this book series has a lot of promise; however, this particular book seems thrown together. It really reminds me of an amalgamation of Halo, Warhammer 40k, Starcraft, EVE, and Stephen Sommer’s The Mummy Trilogy. To be honest, I’m not 100% sure how I feel about this book. I want to like it, but it’s a hate/love relationship at the moment. Get it if you like sci-fi, stay away if your OCD about storylines.

Definitely worth your credit

This book is a great deal because you are getting the book 1 and book 2 of the series for a single credit. I preferred Legionnaire (Book 1) to Galactic Outlaws (Book 2). You jump right into action in Book 1 and it doesn't stop until the end of the book. All the events are narrated linearly. Book 1 is fast paced and easy to follow. Then in Book 2, everything changes... and the story flashes back and forth... and things are non-linear... and everything is chaotic... and at times, it feels like you are reading Star Wars... and at the end, things clear up. I am totally hooked on this series!

As always R.C. Bray does a phenomenal job of breathing life into these characters. Another 5 star performance for R.C.

2 books, 1 credit... I cannot wait for the next...

Great narration, story takes off about the time it hits into the second book. the first third is centered around a PlanetSide battle which sets some of the history and people into your mind. Where it gets really interesting is when you catch up with the characters in the second part of this book. Far more Dynamic storytelling and humor start to occur in the book really takes off from there. I'm already looking forward to the next book on Audible.
