Summary

The voicing seemed off but still good overall.
I dont know why but the reading of this book sounded so disjointed from all the series so far. It just seemed like a chore to listen to. Yet if you listen to David Timson again in Legion he is brilliant.

still good though
As good as any other in the series, just some of the scenes were a bit grim. The murder scene and the barrel of bodies nearly made me put this one down.

Fulgrim: A PSA about doing drugs
Honestly tho, it's a pretty good telling of the downfall of the Emperors' Children. Kinda cheeseball at times but it's to be expected when telling a story about overly proud super-humans seeking impossible perfection turning to drug-use and becoming demonic pricks. Recommended!

Xenos, brotherly bonds and tragedy
Incredible journey through the character of Fulgrim. So many moments in the story where Fulgrim is given a chance to come back from the dark path. Fractal internal moments, that could have spared mankind a cruel fate. Damn that Laer Blade.
Loved David Timson's narration. Perfect Fulgrim voice!
Will have to listen again.

A really good addition to the series. Gives a good insight into fulgrim as a character and the story as a whole works well as a stand alone novel. Good performance as well.

The tragic fall of the Phoenix
A fantastic entry to the Horus Heresy series that portrays the dread seductive powers of chaos and how even primarchs can be tricked and manipulated by its demon spawn.
Excellent writing, fantastic characters and a brilliant performance, if somewhat marred by an overly nasal interpretation of Fulgrim himself that is more fitting for his future daemonic form than the noble if prideful warrior he is at the beginning of this story.
9/10 overall.

good story marred by a poor recording
Fulgrim is an excellent entry to the Horus Heresy series, even knowing the end doesn't take away from the horror of the fall of the Emperor's Children.
however the book is tarnished by the poor quality of the recording - seemingly no effort has been put in the mix with extremely poor EQ meaning sibilant sounds will hurt the listeners ears at regular intervals
