Loved this series "Back in the day..."

A couple of hiccups within the recording, but still listenable. Not one of the better stories, but was an enjoyable enough way to pass a little time.

Not As Good As Origional

Did not meet my expectations. Week depth of storyline.
Too much narrating, nothing to get your teeth into.

Best bit is the laugh at the end.

I drifted of half way through, not riveting.

Decent story

I like the main character and his cheapskate ways, lol.

The story itself is okay but, not one of my favourites as there isn’t much action or intensity to the drama till literally the last 2 minutes or so.

Not bad though and def. not the worst of these.

Dirty work

Dirt, dirt, dirt! What an unusually hypnotic listen you hang on one word to the next, never knowing what's around the corner brilliant.

Uninteresting

Would you try another book written by Charles Beaumont or narrated by Eric Bogosian?

Having never heard a Twilight Zone episode, though well aware of its place in the annuls of history I wasn't sure of what to expect but given the price of this audiobook I thought I would give it a go. All I can take from this specific story is that Beaumont has no shock value but Bogosian was fine at playing his character.

Kept skipping and repeating itself

Not a bad story, not up to usual Twilight Zone standard, guess this one wasn't meant for radio.

Very Strange

This is possibly the strangest thing I have ever read, but I haven't had much experience with the Twilight Zone before.

Eat Dirt

I love The Twilight Zone and will be getting the Volumes. Beaumont, Matheson and Serling, wrote the majority of the episodes. They were great writers. This story falls a little short. It is predictable and really not scary. The production and the narration are excellent and really enhance the experience. For the small amount of money it is, you might want to give it a try.

Not a complete story

This round spent so much time showing how the main character was a cheapskate that it forgot about how to wrap up the ending. Not the Best Of The Twilight Zone by any means.

Weird Twist

Ok... Not great or surprising. Read in a very deadpan, monotone voice. Could have made this a great one !

Disappointing

As a longtime fan of The Twilight Zone TV series and radio dramas in general, I was really looking forward to this. The performances were good, but the story didn't hold up. First, it was a 20-minute story stretched to fill 40 minutes, making for a very slow script. Secondly, there was not a single sympathetic character, leaving me in a hurry to get out of this house and this neighborhood as fast as possible. Thirdly, the ending just didn't go anywhere. I was hoping for a "juicy" revelation about the dirt, but there was nothing there. I'm glad this was free and no longer than it was; otherwise I would be asking for a refund. It certainly did nothing to encourage me to buy additional segments of this series.

Awesome

This was a franchise story and had all the elements for a great storyline. This was a great storytelling told by an utter nonsense.

Disappointed in ending

The twilight zone usually has a more surprising ending. This ending was not the plot twist that is usually delivered

Misses the mark.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

It does not capture the feel of the original Twilight Zone series.

What other book might you compare Free Dirt to and why?

I can't think of any right now.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I felt like I was there, in the cemetery and in the back yard. I didn't care for the voice of the main character. He sounds more like an anchor on the evening news. His character was a little too strong considering what a dork he was.

Did Free Dirt inspire you to do anything?

To avoid future Twilight Zone stories narrated by the same person.

Any additional comments?

The wife's decision to leave came out of nowhere. There was no impression given that they had marital problems.

Narration was Skippy a few times within the story

Any additional comments?

The story was great, and for the price of under a buck, it scored very high in my book. The only problem I had was the narration of the story was skippy in some sections, it had no serious ill effect on the premise or overall story though, just a minor nuisance.
