Summary
Das heimatliche Solsystem verschwand vor mehr als drei Monaten spurlos von seinem angestammten Platz im Orionarm der Milchstraße. Damit die Liga Freier Terraner nicht ins Chaos sinkt, müssen eine neue Regierung und ein neuer Zentralplanet gefunden werden. Überraschend fällt die Wahl auf die Hauptwelt der Plejaden, Maharani, und noch weitaus überraschender setzt sich der dortige Regierungschef Arun Joschannan als neuer Erster Terraner durch. Joschannan bewegt sich nun in einer politisch brisanten Situation: Er muss die LFT als Machtfaktor erhalten und zugleich jene feindliche Macht bekämpfen, die sich offenkundig in der Milchstraße breitmacht. Allerdings hat sich der eigentliche Feind bisher nicht gezeigt, sondern agiert nur über seine Agenten, die Sayporaner und Badakk. Auf der Zirkuswelt Thea wird Joschannan mit dem mysteriösen Geneseplasma verseucht. Es gelingt aber auch, die Kommunikation zu den Sayporanern und erstmals den Spenta zu verbessern. Zu verdanken ist dies vor allem Joschannan, der künftig wohl bezeichnet werden wird als DER DIPLOMAT VON MAHARANI...
