Summary

Max, Leon and Matthew - together at last for Christmas at St Mary's, a time of conspicuous consumption, riotous misbehaviour and the traditional illegal Christmas jump. And this time it's intergenerational.

Donning her unfamiliar mother hat, Max takes Matthew back to 19th-century London, where they plan to deliver a parcel of Christmas cheer to his former friends but find themselves confronting the terrifying Old Ma Scrope in the process.

'Tis the season to be jolly. It's also the season of goodwill towards all mankind.

Pity no-one told Max.

Too short

I enjoy all of Jodi Taylor's books but this I found a little too short.

Absolutely loved it

I didn’t know about the time distance before I started but it was absolutely fun. Mixed with a bit of history and literature connections and Christmas spirit I will definitely look for more adventures of that kind.

Great little short story

I love this series and I love the little short stories that Jodi Taylor fits in between the larger novels, it's such a great little taster.

A short but lovely one

A short but lovely one.

The first St. Mary story nobody gets jailed, killed, exploded, or harmed. Or almost none.

Great as always

This is definitely my favourite series of fiction. It is written with so much humour and multidimensional characters, all brought to life by exemplary narration of Zara Ramm.
Highly recommended for anyone, especially fans of history, science fiction or just humour.

A lovely seasonal short story, full of hope. Well written with vivid descriptions, gentle humour and a great ending. I love this authors work. The narration as always is superb.

Christmas present perfect

Enjoyable, as is the whole series. These short stories are well worth the read. Zara Ramm's performance is aways good.

If, like me, you are reading the short stories out of sequence with the main books (I know I'm bad, but couldn't help myself), there is major plot information given, which I will now wipe from my mind.
