Summary

The crew of the Hotspur just happens to be looking for a new home. If Nick James is right, and he usually is, the Tipperary solar system is about to become the busiest trading hub in the galaxy. To sweeten the pot, the cloud-city of Lèger Nuage is offering free warehouse space to qualified traders. It's a deal that seems too good to pass up.

Of course, nothing's as simple as it seems. Just like Earth's Old West, the Tipperary system is as full of promise as it is Buccaneers who are happy to prey on the weak. No one expects it to be easy, but deceit, piracy, and murder kindle the pioneering spirit in each of them. Only the strong will prosper and the question is - can Liam, Nick, and the rest of the crew carve out a place to call their own?

Be sure to also check out Rookie Privateer, which is the first in this exciting science fiction series.

Hot Stuff

Really enjoying this sci-fi soap opera, even though Liam seems a little dense at times for a privateer and Tabby seems too possessive with violent tendencies!

That said, this series is too good to put down.

Awesome, Loving the fresh start

The more that this tale continues, the more the characters come to life and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I cannot stop listening to this tale and am going to be disappointed when it ends. Enthralling

Pretty good, but Tabby is like a horny cat

A good listen, however I found Tabby to be a bit distracting to the story. She's like a horny cat that needs to be leashed.

I’ve liked the others, but...

This book is super cringey. I find myself skipping long chunks of terrible dialogue that has no point to the story. Every book before this one has had shades of it, but this one turns it to 11. I’m not a horny 12 year old boy, so hopefully the next book isn’t this bad.

Not the best of the series

What disappointed you about Buccaneers?

the "sexual" content for tabby and liam. I am far from a prude but this is a sci fi book not a romance novel for 40 year old women.

What was most disappointing about Jamie McFarlane’s story?

see above

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

I think it did

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Buccaneers?

the fact that tabby is lut with an s.

Any additional comments?

I still linked with the characters and it was much better at the end without the stuff I mention above.

GREAT SERIES !

Would you listen to Buccaneers again? Why?

Fun and fast moving Still a bit of coming of age series, first loves to first blood always out to help the underdog but asking more moral questions,oh and I enjoy the narration.

Have you listened to any of Mikael Naramore’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

good

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I smiled at many parts

Very juvenile storytelling

I really liked the previous books in the series but for some reason the author decided to change the characters significantly in this book. Add that as pioneers in a new system you have to take a hard stance to survive but Liam keeps on doing just stupid stuff (hence the juvenile comment) putting everyone in danger.

This must be a decision by the author and maybe someone guided him in this direction but it is not for me. Throw in the randy stuff all the time and the book just hurt to listen to. I am getting my credit back as I cannot finish it and I am afraid this is it for me on this series.

Great story but...

I really like the series but in this book one character is so annoying that I wanted to delete her from the book, and that is Tabby, omg what a fucked up character. Is she made just to be stupid and annoying? Other then that I really enjoy reading about the loose nuts :-)

Privateers expand their horizons

In this story the Privateers expand their horizons and travel to the Tipperary solar system where new opportunities, friends and challenges await them. Mikael Naramore is an excellent narrator and Jamie McFarlane is one of my favorite authors so I recommend this audiobook. Listening to the previous stories in this series will be helpful to the understanding of the characters.
