Summary

“If Harry Potter has given you a thirst for fantasy and you have not discovered the magic of Terry Brooks, you are in for a treat.” (Rocky Mountain News)

Brave explorers led by the last Druid, Walker Boh, traveled across unknown seas in search of an elusive magic. But now it seems that Walker and his team were lured there for sinister, unforeseen purposes. As the crew aboard the airship Jerle Shannara is being attacked by evil forces, the Druid’s protégé, Bek Rowe, and his companions are being pursued by the mysterious Ilse Witch. Meanwhile, Walker is alone, caught in a dark maze beneath the ruined city of Castledown, stalked by a hungry, unseen enemy. It is alive, but not human, coveting the magic of Druids, elves, even the Ilse Witch. It hunts men for its own designs. It is Antrax: a spirit that feeds off enchantment and traps the souls of men. And with it, the fate of the Four Lands hangs in the balance.

Antrax is great, and it confirms Terry’s place at the head of the fantasy world.” (Philip Pullman, author of The Golden Compass and The Amber Spyglass)

“An engaging read ... fast paced ... Fine storytelling ... Antrax is a satisfying story.” (Associated Press)

Antrax

Loved this book. Excitement from the beginning. Continues on where the previous book left off. Hope the third book is as good.

I listened to the first part one of the story and was so intrigued that I had to download 2 and have now done part 3 to complete the series excellent story, my mind is aglow with all the images that the writers has written about.

antrax

I just love these stories . The only thing i can complain about this reading is that it sounds like it was recorded in the 50s. there is no continuation of reader and there are a few names interpreted wrong.

The entire plot but not the whole story

The story is great but it's disappointingly short and read by a different narrator than the first book. Part 2 of the Voyage of the JS is only published in the abridged version from 2001. Later the full versions of part 1 and 3 were released and this is where the problems start. I loved the characters from book 1, their voices and performances. However, because you can only get book 2 in the old version, these voices and performances are lost. The narrator does a good job but it's completely different and stands out. It took me halfway to adjust before the book was almost over. There are only 5 long chapters which last just over an hour each.
This could have been great but it's edited state and different narrator makes it stand apart from the other 2 volumes. it's a shame. This volume let's down a good trilogy. With that being said, it is still worth getting if you want to complete the entire story.

just not the same when it's abridged

This is the only book in the whole shannara chronicles series where you haven't done an unabridged version. Bring on the unabridged version so we fans can complete our collection!

Anthrax Abridged

It is such a shame that this is an abridged version of Anthrax because so much of the story is missing. Both book 1 and 2 are the full length. The story is ok but only if you have previously read the actual book to help your understanding.
