Summary

With the Dark Angels spread across a hundred systems, primarch Lion El'Jonson stands as Lord Protector of Ultramar - though his true motives are known to few indeed, and old rivalries on the home world threaten to tear the Legion in half.

But when word comes of the Night Lords' attack on Sotha, the Lion's brutal actions bring Imperium Secundus once again to the brink of civil war. Not even the most fearsome warriors of the Dreadwing, nor any arcane secret of the Order, can guarantee victory if he sets himself against his loyal brothers.

brilliant

I've loved the Dark Angels saga and the imperium secundus, especially interesting for me was seeing the astartes deal with asymmetric warfare.

Several arcs reaching their apex in unison.

The series installment I was most looking forward to - it did not disappoint.

Long live the Lioooon!!

Brilliant book, one of my favorites thus far. I most enjoyed the dichotomy between Sanguinius, Guilliman and the Lion, 3 god kings co existing with the rivalry that’s shared in most non single child homes across the world. I’m convinced that the Lion and Konrad are the two strongest primarchs of all, I highly doubt another could best either of them. Another brilliant part was seeing Guilliman so unhinged. Pick this up!!! Worth the read

Not the best of the Imperium Secundus, but still enjoyable

While this book isn’t the best of the Imperium Secundus series of books, it was still incredibly enjoyable and definitely has me tempted to read/listen to the other Dark Angels books. Looking forward to the next one, and finding out how Sanguinius gets to Terra.

There are some really great moments between the 4 Primarchs, the flaws of the Lion made bare for all to see including the Lion himself. Guilliman still morns the possible death of the Emperor and by extension the Imperium itself, with Imperium Secundus being his way of distracting himself and Sanguinius continues to struggle with his new authority as Imperator Regent. The answer to the question of what to do with Konrad Curze, may be the breaking of Imperium Secundus.
