Summary

There is a starship in trouble, lost in the void, with no one awake to hear the alarms.

A thousand specially selected people left a troubled and unsustainable Earth for another world. Their dream was a new start on a virgin planet 30 years away.

Their ship was state-of-the-art and entirely automatic, it's passengers safely sleeping through the journey - but something has gone wrong, something unexpected.

Really enjoyed

A fantastic story - the author is clearly bursting with creativity and you can really feel it here.

This is a sci-fi about 1000 people who are sent to settle on a new planet, told from the perspective of someone who wakes up with amnesia after sleeping past the amount of time they were supposed to be asleep for. A solid story with some twists and turns. Highly recommend

Everybody knows that robots can't lie.

A panicked awakening. He doesn't know where, why or even who he was. Alone in a room, he finally determines that he is on a space craft. The name over his door suggests he is Al but still he can remember nothing. Clark. Venturing out to explore, he discovers a youth named Chris and together they join forces to find the hundreds of other people, including Chris'mother, who were sent out on this huge ship in search of a new planet to colonise. It is obvious that things had gone seriously wrong.

This is an easy read. solid S.F. adventure, which, whilst not ground breaking in originality, is still very enjoyable with a nice added twist in the mystery of who is this All Clark, not listed in the passenger documents? Characterisation is thin but made more accessible through the narration of Timothy McKean, who gives individual voice to all of the protagonists as he also reads the connecting text with good intonation and understanding. His pleasant voice is a pleasure to hear.

This is the first in an ongoing series and I look forward to book two. My thanks to the rights holder of Al Clark, book one, who, following my request,, freely gifted me a complimentary copy. A good adventure, suitable for all ages.
