Summary

Das Unheil nimmt seinen Lauf bei Kaffee und Kuchen. Karlrobert Kreiten, 27 Jahre alt, ein hochbegabter Pianist, verliert im März 1943 ein unbedachtes Wort gegenüber einer Freundin seiner Mutter: "Der Führer ist krank", der Krieg sei verloren. Sechs Monate später stirbt er am Galgen. Sein Schicksal steht im Mittelpunkt von Oliver Hilmes' Buch über das einschneidende Jahr 1943. In dem immer noch getanzt wird, auch wenn bei Stalingrad eine ganze Armee vernichtet wird und die Städte schon in Trümmern liegen. In Porträts und Geschichten erzählt er von dem nahenden Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges, das noch längst nicht jeder wahrhaben will.
