Summary

I had it all.

Or, at least, that’s what everyone else thought.

Between my husband being the president of the Demons of Hell and his club, I had a “family”.

Except the only thing that made us a family was my husband’s persistent reminders that it was.

But a family doesn’t turn a blind eye to things.

A family doesn’t let one of their own become a punching bag for their mistakes.

For all the pent-up anger and frustration for something that isn’t even my fault.

My “family” was the reason I nearly died.

And when Rage came into my life, he was all I could see.

The only thing that suddenly mattered.

Too bad I didn’t listen to the warnings before I became obsessed.

After all, with a name like Rage, what was I expecting?

Not for the Faint of Heart

Wow. An absolutely dark motorcycle club tale riddled with abuse and all kinds of terrible things; so this is definitely not for the faint of heart or those with triggers for such topics. At the same time, there is a beautiful story of love at the core of the story and there are some very steamy scenes that are very well written. Great story and would love more by this author.

This narrator gives a spectacular performance for a tale with such emotion throughout. She exhibits the perfect amount of emotion in every single scene; happy, tragic, or otherwise. I am utterly impressed and will look forward to more of her performances.

I listened to this in one sitting!

This one was very difficult listening for me. I spent the entire book wishing someone would just kill Rage! He is a horrible person! Tex and Roman were the reason I continued to listen. Roxie is tough from being Rages punching bag for so long.. will no one step in and save her??

There is so. I just violence towards the women in this story, that I cringed many times. There were parts of the story that I had trouble making sense out of. I found myself, however, continuing to listen to find answers. There were a few spots where there were repeat phrases in the audio.

Amber Bray did a great job with all of the different characters voices! Kudos for all of the rough man voices!!!!

Dark and unexpected

Motorcycle Club books can be very dark, and this one is dark, heartbreaking and suspenseful. Tex and Rage were childhood friends and fell for the same woman. Roxy marries Rage and Tex distances himself, watching the destruction Rage causes. Rage is the perfect name for him, as his temper and personality is full of anger. Roxy's last beating has her escaping with Tex and their story begins. This is not for the faint of heart. There is graphic violence, rape and MFMFM scenes. It's very well written, giving us the realism of Roxy's life before she left as well as the constant fear of being discovered. There are moments of light and happiness, but that underlying fear is always there. The book leaves us with an cliffhanger that does make me want to continue, needing to see where it will all lead.

Amber Bray gives a wonderful performance of this. With all it's triggers, she gives us the all the emotions. We feel fear and pain, utter despair and heartache, love and hope all with her voices. It's not an easy narration with the many characters and vast personality changes and she nails them. A great portrayal of this story.

This book is brutal!!

I can’t get over how gritty this book is. It has lots and lots of triggers but is so real. Written so very well. Great characters. Amber has a fantastic voice for this book.

Dark

This story is quite dark with rape (including gang rape), physical and mental abuse, and death. It is not for everyone. It kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning of the story all the way until the end. The epilogue ended in a cliffhanger which didn't necessarily make me want to continue on with the next book. Then I heard 2 or 3 chapters from the next book that were included in this audio and they sucked me into wanting to see how the next story ends.

Amber Bray put a lot of emotion into the story and did a great job bringing the characters to life but there were some issues with editing with some words or sentences being repeated when they weren't supposed to be.

Awesome

I really enjoyed this, even though the narrator had to do male voices as well as the female voices, she executed them very well which was a relief for me as I normally hate that.

Dark MC MFMFM Romance

I feel like I should start by dropping trigger warnings all up and through this review. There are multiple descriptions of gang rape and abuse. These scene are brutal.

The story is told from duel POVs. Roxy is the wife of MC President Rage (A true MONSTER). She feels trapped in her life and is just doing the best she can to survive day to day. The other POV is from Tex, the VP of the MC/ Rage's best friend. There are a multitude of side players that you will truly grow to love. Never feel like you know where this one is going to go, just when you are safe in the story the authors pulls the rug out from under you.

This ends on a pretty intense cliffhanger. It knocked me on my butt. I really need to read the next book because I have to see where this is going to go.

I would recommend this for fans of MC, Menage romance and DARK (I mean DARK) romance.

Fighting through the scars to survive...

Tex and Rage were childhood friends who always had each other's backs.  Even when Rage started the Reapers MC, Tex was by his side as his VP.  When Rage wanted the girl Tex was dating, Tex decided Roxy would not come between their friendship and he stepped aside.  It wasn't  long before Tex realized his mistake.  After quietly watching Roxy endure years of abuse by Rage, Tex decides to take matters into his own hands.  What follows is the path that decision makes for Roxy and Tex.  Both scarred but determined to survive.  This book has mature themes of darkness, pain, fear,  sex and joy.  It is well written by Elizabeth Knox with narration by Amber Bray.  Looking forward to the rest of this series, I was happy to find the first two chapters of Book 2 included.

Gut Wrenching but Full of Hope

Scarred is an out of control freight train that will plow you into the ground. It is full of both heart and misery, and neither will relinquish their hold on you. This is one tug of war that eat away at you as it changes you into something new and different. Nothing will prepare you for this full blast of evil at its best while still hanging on by a thread of hope. This is one a story for the faint of heart. It is a story that couldn't be more raw or dark and yet there is beauty that flows throughout the pain and the scars.

Roxanne followed her heart. She made choices she thought were for the best, but sometimes even our best intentions can't save us from our fate. When life becomes Hell itself, there is nothing you can do but scrape some hope together and hold on. When she can't hold on any longer, someone from her past steps up and carries her. Tex will do anything for her since he just wanted it all happen. He thought that was the definition of a being being a good friend, but through the years he has come to realize that he just lacked the courage until now. Ready or not, He has what it takes, and he is taking back his heart and his future from the devil that stands in his way. Can Roxanne and Tex build a life they have always wanted, or will the devil rise up and drag them back down to the pit?

The narrator did a great job in breathing life into these beautifully complex characters. She heroically pulled the sometimes ugly parts of this story into the light and proclaimed its worth and value overall. I enjoyed listening to her wonderful talent, and I hope to enjoy more stories with her enjoyable voice.

Dark MC Romance

The story was very dark MC romance and I like the story until there was more characters added I think I would have enjoyed it more if they stuck with the characters Rage, Roxy and Vince. I am also not a big fan of cliffhangers.

Definitely Dark!

Holy twisted biker book! There are most definitely some triggers in this book, but this story is something else. I do not know if I am able to explain it properly, but if you like dark this is for you. This is not a love story, but there is love.

Dark Mc romance. 1POV. ? ?

If you need a trigger warning for rape and abuse, don’t listen to this book. Full disclosure, I could only get to chapter 15 of this book, and it was NOT bc of the sexual or physical abuse. It was bc of the writing, narration, and editing. I have never given a book or performance a 1 star rating.

Editing: by chapter 15 there are at about 5 instances where a sentence is repeated two or three times.
Narration: this story is told in first person-which I love. However the female speaks for Vinces’s POV and I don’t love that. I’m completely fine with a female voicing the male when the chapter is the females POV, but when the chapter is from the male POV, I don’t like that at all. Also, the narrator is way too theatrical for the dialogue. There is much feeling that needs to be put into ordering food or describing a room’s furnishings.
Writing: I always feel bad critiquing someone’s writing but I if you are paying for this book, I wouldn’t feel right NOT saying something. First, (slight spoiler alert) chapters 1-5 are basically the female “complaining “ about being raped and beaten by her husband and her husbands Mc and how she can’t leave. I understand how it’s hard for abused women to leave their abuser, but she keeps implying that there is a reason why she can’t. I was thinking maybe her husband was holding someone hostage so she stays, but nope. It was a mental thing. She says how she’d rather die then stay there and that she loves the baby that she is pregnant with, so much, and would do anything to protect it... and yet she stays? Anyhow, there’s more about the story that doesn’t make sense, but I don’t want to type anymore.

I stuck with this book bc I love a good karma book, but I just couldn’t hold out any longer.
