Summary
As lead singer and songwriter for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Anthony Kiedis has lived life on the razor's edge. Much has been written about him, but until now, we've only had his songs as clues to his experience from the inside. In Scar Tissue, Kiedis proves himself to be as compelling a memoirist as he is a lyricist, giving us a searingly honest account of the life from which his music has evolved.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are that rare breed of rock band: critically lauded and popularly embraced by millions of fans, their albums consistently sell into the stratosphere - their CD Californication sold over 13 million copies alone.
Now in Scar Tissue, Anthony Kiedis defies the rock star clichés. In his telling, we can see everything he has done has been part of a passionate journey. Kiedis is a man "in love with everything" - the darkness, the death, the disease. Even his descent into drug addiction was a part of that journey, another element that he has transformed into art. Scar Tissue is a fascinating account of a fast-lane life, addiction, and a moving story of eventual recovery and redemption.

One of the most honest and heavy biographies ever told
Being a huge chilis fan. I knew lots of the things jn this book ,
I read it the day it came out ,
And somewhere along the line. I lost it ! I’ve just binge listened it !!
Fascinating yet tragic life , a truly incredible story ,

Loved is from start to finish!
I really enjoyed this book! Mind-blowing real life stories & the openness about Anthony’s life long drug addition. I can’t imagine how vulnerable he must have felt staring this with the whole world. It definitely showed me a very different point of view on life and the band. I started listening as a non RHCP fan and ended up playing some of their songs on repeat. I also watched the ‘Funk Monks’ documentary and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Well read. Fantastic story. Rock n Roll at its best. You are drawn into this story of self destruction and success from the first paragraph.

puts their songs in a new light
the book takes a bit of time to get going, but uts well worth the wait! shines a new light on all those familiar rock/funk tunes that we like and thought we knew - even thought the lyrics were saying it all along!
