Summary

Multimillion-copy Sunday Times best seller Karen Rose is back with a brand-new series to get your pulse pounding.

Special Agent Gideon Reynolds has tried hard to put his past behind him. He escaped the violence of his cult upbringing when he was just 13, and since then routine and discipline have been his way of making sense of the world. But when a petite blonde woman crashes into his life, he begins to realise that a little bit of chaos might not be so bad.

Daisy Dawson has had more than her fair share of pain, too - but she's done being a victim. Daisy's determined to explore every new experience she can - including getting to know the dark and serious FBI investigator she meets when she fights off a masked attacker one night.

It soon becomes clear that Daisy's attack was just the beginning. Now the bloodied bodies of young women are showing up all over California, and as Gideon tries to find the killer, it's clear that Daisy is in more danger than they ever realised....

Say you're Sorry for choosing this narrator

This is the first time I've had to stop listening to a Karen Rose book. I've either read or listened to them all her books but the narrator is dreadful.

dreadful narrator

enjoyed the story, great to meet some new characters and catch up with a couple of familiar "faces"
what really put me off was the narrator. I am aware that he is male and female voices are challenging but they all sounded like really bad drag acts, even the men. If the story hadn't been gripping I'd have given up.

Loved it

Narrator was excellent, new caricatures were spot on.
Found myself going the long way home to get an extra 10mins listening time in

Mixed feelings

I enjoyed the build up to the outlining of the serial killer and the workings. The story had many elements most of which came together well. I did find the dabbling in soft pornographic story telling like a bad “dirty mag” story and it didn’t enhance the story and was quite off putting and unnecessary. The narrator had strange voices for female characters and a drawl that was too slow. But overall a good listen.

Brilliant story but...

... I wasn't a fan of the narrator. He didn't grab me the same way I usually get caught up in a Karen Rose book. Still a fantastic book though and I'm already guessing st who the next one will be about... can't wait!

Can’t listen to the narrator

Love Karen Rose books and was waiting very patiently for this one to come out but I’ve had to give up on this despite a great story line as the narrator is just incredibly irritating.

Unsure narrator is best for this style of novel

Hmm. Book is OK. I find these books easy to listen to. I'm not sure the narrator is the best voice type for this. It's not easy to portray the females without them sounding like camp men I guess. But why does he also always sound like he's going to burst into tears? He's probably better at other genres.

Another belter from Karen Rose

Great story, went from 0-60 at the start and never took the foot off the pedal. Suspenseful with a lovely crossover romance, spent too many nights just listening to another chapter leading to bleary eyed mornings.

This is a love story not a thriller.

Unfortunately a promising premise has been ruined by a cringe inducing love story. Its also hard to believe that the FBI would let so many civilians take part in a case of this magnitude.

The speed at which the characters fall in love, can read each others body language and settle the other with just a touch or whisper given each has a traumatic history is beyond the ridiculous. The intimate moments had me for the first time in any book skipping forward chunks of time to get back to the story.

I cant recommend this one or i would have to say sorry.

OMG!

When I saw the length of this book I thought the editor had been on Annual Leave!
Usually very long books can be boring with the story line drowned under a torrent of words but..in this case I'm delighted to be wrong!
The book is exciting, with a great story line, also great sex scenes! I am so pleased I choose this book and will happily recommend it. (Hang onto your hat!!)
