Summary

London, 1786. Lord Henri-Antoine has returned from the Grand Tour to a life of privilege and excess. A vast inheritance allows him every indulgence, free from responsibility. Yet, Henri-Antoine maintains a well-ordered existence, going to great lengths to conceal an affliction few understand and many fear.

Miss Lisa Crisp is a penniless orphan who relies on the charity of relatives to keep her from the poorhouse. Intelligent and unflappable, Lisa will not allow poverty to define her. She leads a useful life working among the sick poor.

Under startling circumstances, Henri-Antoine and Lisa meet. There is instant attraction. When they find themselves attending the same wedding in the country, Henri-Antoine offers Lisa a scandalous proposition, one she should refuse but yearns to accept. Following her heart could ruin them both.

A standalone romantic adventure set against the backdrop of Treat, ancestral home of the dukes of Roxton. Satyr's Son will delight fans of the series with cameos by many beloved characters, while new listeners will discover the myriad pleasures and glittering aristocratic world of the Roxton family through the fresh eyes of newcomer Lisa Crisp. Satyr's Son is a Cinderella story with a heartwarming happily ever after.

The best

I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series. The character Antonia is magical but I think this story is the best of the series.
I just wish there were more about this family.........
Thank you.

A wonderful love story!

This is #5 of the series which is best read in order, except that Amazon got it wrong and Noble Satyr should be #1.

It is one of the most beautiful love stories that I have read.

It is about Henri-Antoine who is the second son of a duke, very well aware of his position, gorgeous and a shocking rake. He also happens to be afflicted by epilepsy which understandably affects his behaviour.

Lisa Crisp is an orphan and badly treated by her relatives (Cinderalla comes to mind).  Her aunt's husband (a doctor), however, tries to be as kind as he can and she works closely with him in his medical  practice.

Lisa is a very caring person, has a delightful sense of humour and doesn't put up with any nonsense, except of course from her horrid aunt and cousin.

By chance, H-A and Lisa meet and from then on, the story gets more and more interesting.  It is  beautifully woven and I won't tell you more as that would give the game away, except to say that the ending is delightful.

I am so sad that the saga has come to an end as it was a truly magical read.

Everything you want from a Georgian Romance!

This is my first time listening to a audible book, I really enjoyed it, having read the book myself, I was interested in listening to the book to see if I got anything different from it. I love the story, I found it gripping, amusing, romantic, detailed and just a fabulous story. I think I might have to listen to another book and I can guarantee it will be another Lucinda Brant one as she is a fantastic story teller and Alex Windham has a wonderful voice to listen to!

Wow !

Wow, what more is there to say? Such detail, such characters, such action, such drama and all set perfectly within it's period and genre. Congratulations to this writer. There is nothing in this book Jane Austen wouldn't be happy to pen or proclaim as her own. On top of all this praise is the truly fantastic narration which breaths such life and vigour into this story. Each MC has a unique voice, which enhances our understanding and appreciation of them. As an aficionado of Austen and Heyer I am so happy to have discovered this author (by accident). Can't wait to listen to it again. SUCH A PLEASURE

Ultimate Perfection

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this audiobook because not only is it a wonderful story, but the narration is superb.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Satyr's Son: A Georgian Historical Romance?

I can't go into detail about any of the memorable moments of the story because they would be huge spoilers. Suffice to say that there are many moments in this story when I have been emotionally moved and have realised that this has to be one of Lucinda Brants best novels.

Have you listened to any of Alex Wyndham’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Yes, I have listened to other Alex Wyndham performances, mostly other Lucinda Brant novels. In each one he brings the story and it's characters to life and I cannot fault him. I have listened to his narration of one other author's novels and even though the quality of his narration never falters, there is just something about Lucinda Brant's characters and Alec's voice that meld perfectly. He becomes every one of Lucinda's characters, it's a perfect fit.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would love to have listened to this book in one sitting. Sadly it was a little long for that to be possible. I managed it in 3 sittings though. I had already read the book, but despite that fact, listening to Alec's narration made the book like new again.

Any additional comments?

Lucinda writes romantic novels unlike any other and when Alex narrates them he becomes each and every character he portrays. He brings them to life, he makes them our friends, family and even enemies. The emotion he can put forth is almost palpable, you just want to put your arms out and hold the character that is upset at the time, or dance a jig if the character is happy etc, you get the idea. I even forget that it is just one man narrating all the characters! I can't listen to any other narrator without comparing them to Alex, and no matter how good they may be, they can never reach Alex's gold standard! Henri Antoine the hero of this story is said to have a voice as smooth as chocolate, a description that is often given to Alex Wyndham's narrative voice, and a more apt description you could not have.

Thoroughly enjoyable

I listened in one day as I enjoyed the book so much. Much is made of Bridgerton but Roborough is far more enjoyable.

Another Roxton triumph

I have long been waiting for Harry's story. Just hoping this is not the end of the series. I will need to know what happens next.

Lucinda Brant's books never fail to enthrall and intrigue. The storyline and characterisation always de!Iver a superbly satisfying read. Combined also with the wonderful timbre of Alex Wynfdham's very sexy voice and his brlliant ability to become each character with such insight and passion;
together his and Lucinda's talents are a match made in readers heaven.I

Absolutely loved it

Except for the beginning I loved every second of it. I took a bit long to get into it as the beginning was bit boring. But as it picked up I couldn't wait to get back to it each time I had to stop listening. Especially towards the end, I couldn't wait to see how it would end.
The narrator was brilliant as always.
I will definitely be listening to this whole series again.
