Sam hated mistakes. Every single one. Falling off his bike. Burning his pancakes. Getting spelling words wrong. So Sam built a machine to erase every mistake he'd ever made—problem solved, right? Wrong. The machine didn't erase his mistakes. It erased everything he'd learned from them. Now Sam can't ride his bike. He can't spell "necessary." He can't even make his famous pancakes anymore. To get it all back, he'll have to do the one thing he built the machine to avoid: mess up, all over again.

A funny, big-hearted book about why mistakes aren't failures—they're how we learn.

Perfect for:

  • Kids ages 6-10 who are hard on themselves when they don't get it right the first time
  • Parents looking for a read-aloud with a real, lasting lesson
  • Classrooms and homeschool libraries teaching growth mindset and resilience
  • Bedtime stories that spark a real conversation afterward

Sam and the Mistake Machine reminds young listeners that falling down, burning the pancakes, and getting the spelling wrong isn't the end of the story—it's the whole point.

Sam’s mistake-erasing machine is such a clever idea. Children will enjoy the funny situations while also discovering that everything Sam knows came from practice, patience, and getting things wrong along the way. This would be a great classroom or bedtime listen.

A great lesson without feeling like one
