Summary
From "one of the master storytellers of this or any age" (The Tampa Tribune) comes the stunning final adventure of "one of the most remarkable and appealing characters in current fiction" (The Virginian-Pilot) - as #1 New York Times best-selling author Dean Koontz brings the unforgettable odyssey of Odd Thomas to its dazzling conclusion.
Odd Thomas is back where it all started…because the time has come to finish it. Since he left his simple life in the small town of Pico Mundo, California, his journey has taken him to places strange and wonderful, mysterious and terrifying. Across the land, in the company of mortals and spirits alike, he has known kindness and cruelty, felt love and loss, saved lives and taken them - as he's borne witness to humanity's greatest good and darkest evil. Again and again, he has gone where he must and done what he had to do - for better or worse - with his courage and devotion sorely tested, and his soul forever changed. Every triumph has been hard won. Each sacrifice has taken its toll.
Now, whatever destiny drives him has finally steered his steps home, where those he cares for most surround him, the memory of his tragically lost true love haunts him, and one last challenge - vast and dreadful - awaits him. For Odd Thomas, born to serve a purpose far greater than himself, the wandering is done. Only the reckoning remains.

Really not worth it.
Very slow. Little action. Narrator very flat and monotone. Felt my concentration drifting to other things frequently, I had to keep skipping back to see what I had missed in my day dreaming.
It jumped to other topics so often I forgot where he was and what he was actually doing. Listened to end as I wanted to see if he reunited with Stormy. It was very flat. Just don’t bother.

Odd Thomas
I cannot describe how I have enjoyed the entire series of odd Thomas, from the 1st which blew my mind, all the way to the end, and Dean has ended brilliantly A++, it's a shame audible don't have the complete run recorded

Oddly disappointing
Having enjoyed reading and listening to quite a few Dean Koontz stories, including several in the Odd Thomas range, I found this one a huge let down. Dull and uninspiring I hung on in the hope that something inspiring might finally happen. Sadly not.

A Great Story. Great Narrator.
I've loved this Odd Thomas book.
I don't understand why people have given this book poor reviews. To me it's a solid 10/10.
I started reading Odd Thomas a few decades ago. I read books 1,2+3. Those books aren't on Audible yet so I've had to skip over them. I have listened to all the following books within a two week period. They're audible "page turners", I haven't wanted to pause them to go to bed and I've devoured them with NEVER decreasing enthusiasm. This book has a beautiful story. It's fast and action packed, with all the detail you'd expect as it leads poor Oddy to its conclusion. The ending is truly lovely and to my mind insightful.
This is the only Odd Thomas book that doesn't work as a stand alone. Read the last 3 first if you want to fully appreciate it. You'll need to get to know Oddy or you won't understand what he is going through as he fights to save his beloved home town from disaster.
Highly recommended!

top notch
excellent Odd Thomas as usual, stricken with both sadness and joy. You'll be completely gripped from start to finish, and lost when you're done

I felt a bit lost at the end here but at least it was an end
I can’t Describe what I truly feel and so on as I would be giving away the plot. The penultimate book for me was better.
I’m happy to report that this does conclude! There is no ambiguity to what happens. The ending is pleasant and as good as can be expected with everything Odd has gone through.
Dean Koontz tells us on his website that we would discover the meaning of smoothed and fully blue and well, no, we don’t! There are some flimsy references here and there but ultimately it doesn’t say - “and smoothed and fully blue means.... “ which I think was my greatest disappointment.
I did shed some tears. Mostly because this is the last odd Thomas book and we won’t join him on any more adventures.
If you’ve read/listened to the other 7 you must read or listen to this to conclude. But I can only give it 4 stars as I felt a bit bereft of final proper explanations for several things that were mentioned in the series.
