John Milton has been off the grid for six months.

He surfaces in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, and immediately finds himself drawn into a vicious battle with the narco-gangs that control the borderlands.

Milton saves the life of an idealistic young journalist who has been targeted for execution. The only way to keep her safe is to smuggle her into Texas. Working with the only untouchable cops in the city, and a bounty hunter whose motives are unclear, Milton must keep her safe until the crossing can be made.

But when the man looking for her is the legendary assassin Santa Muerta - Saint Death - that's a lot easier said than done.©2025 W. F. Howes Ltd. Good character development and interesting plot. It’s good to go back and listen to to where and how Milton’s story began.

Good listen!

There are many glitches in the audio on this book, so it feels like whole sentences are missing. This is a shame as it is the 2nd of the series that I've bought having thoroughly enjoyed the 1st one. The story is great, and to be clear, so is the performance of the narrator.

The Audio is very poor

I enjoy the overall story but it is the contrived way that the hero acts in particular grave circumstances that it contrived and completely unbelievable. It is the one thing that grates in me in this genre when the author is manoeuvring characters into the place he want them to be but seems to suspend their rational thought while doing so.

Overall good
