Summary

Rush: Montgomery Men Series, Book 1

I was running from my husband, a man I thought I’d known.

Running from the hell he had put me through.

He’d nearly destroyed the woman I had once been and

I would do whatever it took to regain my freedom.

I would lie, and cheat.

I would steal if it meant that I never had to go back there.

I’d run and keep running....

But there was one problem. I hadn’t planned for Ashton Montgomery.

He was a distraction I couldn’t allow. Not if I wanted to stay safe. I had to remain

distant, but he was relentless and had other ideas.

I caved because I hadn’t thought it all through, not in detail.

If I had I would’ve realized that you can only live in a fantasy world for so long before everything came crashing in around you.

And those lives you’ve destroyed along the way, make you no better than the monster you were trying to break free from.

How could I have been so careless?

It wasn’t meant to turn out this way.

But the rush of my freedom took control and I forgot how important it was to keep the secret of who I had once been.

And now I had nothing.

Only the fear that the man I’d run from would find me again, and finish what he started.

Rush

New author for me and I really enjoyed this story. Good chemistry between Kinsley and Ash. Loved the writing, the drama and romance. I do wish that we got more dealing with the Jace arc at the end but other than that I loved everything about this story. The narration just added to my enjoyment.

Entertaining stand alone

I liked that Rush started right in the middle of the suspenseful situation. There was some of the typical contemporary romance misunderstanding/poor communication drama, but not as many issues as I would have expected surrounding moving from one controlling relationship potentially into another one.

The narration was good and Sarah Puckett included emotion in her performance, which I always appreciate.

Overall, the story was entertaining and I would love to see more of Lex in the future. I'm interested in reading other books in the series.

A great listen!

Rush by C. A. Harms was a well written story I enjoyed very much. I liked the characters, their love was heartwarming. What I liked most about Ashton's character was that he managed to be a through and through alpha male but still was considerate of Kensley. He did everything to help her overcome the abuse she suffered by her husband. Kensley was a sweet loving woman, her true spirit never broke despite all she had to endure. Telling the story in dual POVs was the perfect choice. I'm definintely interested in the next books.

I loved Sarah Puckett's narration. She managed the chapters with male POV beautifully. The quality of the recording was also top-notch.

Rush to Listen!

Rush by C.A. Harms is an excellent listen that addresses domestic violence and is a compelling listen. The author is fantastic in how she weaves it in this book of Kensley/Kira and Ashton and Jace. The emotions that are brought out were so realistic. I loved how Kensley had the determination to get away and start over as Kira. Ashton's pursuit of her was so refreshing, and his reactions were realistic of her being hard to get. Sarah Puckett was outstanding narrating this book. She gave distinguishable voices for the characters POV, and the emotions were tangible. I love how she brings the characters to life. Thank you Audiobook Obsession for this fantastic listen. I loved it!!!

ROLLERCOASTER OF EMOTIONS

Gosh! Talk about angst... This book had me completely crazy with all the suspense and angst, but it's really well written that it was so worthy at the end.

I was completely hooked from the begging, I couldn't stop listening and it was just a rollercoaster of emotions.
Both characters were great and the chemistry between them so so amazing and tangible. They are perfect together.

The narration by Sarah Puckett was utterly perfect! I wasn't expecting anything less from her, and of course she did terrific. You were able to hear all the emotions in her voice, her tone and pace so so perfect, which made the book so much perfect and enjoyable.

Instantly was looking for the next book

Sarah Puckett does amazing as both Kiera and Ashton. I really enjoyed Sarah’s performance on all the characters. Such feeling is expressed when I hear her narration of any book. She is excellent❣️

I loved this story and instantly looked for the next book in the series and I’m excited because CA Harms is a newish author for me. I’m excited to hear more about Ashton Montgomery’s brothers and maybe even Lex because all of her characters were amazing and made me want to know them more.

Any book that deals with domestic abuse and helps any woman to try and get out of their situation and shows that there are folks out there who want to help is wonderful to me. It takes a lot of strength to get out and a lot of believing that life can be better. This author does an awesome job at expressing all the emotions involved for Kiera/Kinsley and Ashton and makes it realistic.

Finding true love

Kiera was running away from one powerful man that was abusive and cruel. Then found an other rich powerful man that really loved her. Ashton had to break down her walls and give her hope to love while he protected her from her past. This was a beautiful story of over coming evil. Sarah Puckett is always a pleasure to listen to.

New hair, new man, new lease on life

Kiera finds herself escaping hell, taking on a new identity and starting over. She stumbles into the love and protection she needs in Ashton while dropping off legal documents. He’s a sexy alpha billionaire, you’ve fallen in love with the type before. Their chemistry is instant, the pair could set water on fire.

Lex the fiery best friend may be a little over the top but I want to be his bosom buddy and confidant. Also if anyone stumbles across a set of brother like the Montgomery brothers please slide them my card.

This is definitely a romance with hints of underlying suspense.

I would recommend this to fans of Sleeping With The Enemy(Julia Roberts 1991)

Good emotional book about becoming strong again

The story starts out with a look at the horrors Kinsley had to suffer from and it’s awful. And immediately I felt so bad for her and drawn into her life, hoping for better for her. (I cheered when Kinsley met Adeline. if only all abused women received the help they needed.)

Ashton was mean in the beginning and I wasn’t sure that I would like him. Even emotionally damaged, he was a level of arrogance that I didn’t like. But of course, first impressions could be wrong and he showed strength and emotions that made me eventually really like him.

Kinsley, now Keira, her name in hiding, met Ashton while she was delivering papers for work. Ashton chased Kinsley and eventually, they fell in love. Of course, the lies had to continue because Kinsley had to protect herself. Her history caused issues but eventually, they achieved their HEA. The supporting cast is great, especially Lex, who provides some comic relief. I’m looking forward to revisiting some of these characters in the future books of this series.

Sarah Puckett was fantastic, as expected. As this book was a dual POV, it would have been great to have both a male and female narrator. However, Sarah did a great job playing Ashton (and the other male cast) too.

A terrific start to a series

A story that packs an emotional punch. The story was beautifully written and you feel everything that Kinsley is going through. Ashton is a perfect fit for Kinsley and the narrator did a superb job of capturing their emotions and story. Your past does not have to define your future and the author drives this home throughout Rush. Highly recommended and once you start listening you will not want the story to end. Cannot wait to listen to more.

An enjoyable listen

This was an enjoyable listen. After Ashton finally gets Kinsley’s attention they slip into a weekend of sex very quickly. It is surprising that Kinsley would be so trusting after her husband’s abusiveness. But hey---this is erotic/contemporary romance! That Kinsley did not reveal her truth to Ashton sooner is hard to believe, since she gave the trust of her body so readily.

All this being said. I did enjoy the book. The narration was fine.

Intense and emotional

This audiobook is not my cup of tea, but it is very well written and performed very well. It is too gritty and angsty to be what I am looking for in a contemporary romance, but I am sure that lots of people will love it. The story is steamy, emotional, and full of secrets, lies, and suspense. There is a bunch of bad language and some emotional and physical abuse by the despicable villain. The story starts off with the horrors of Kinsley's marriage to a sadistic man who is rich and powerful enough to get away with whatever he wants. Thankfully, a kindly woman rescued Kinsley and gave her a new identity. Then she met a new rich man named Ashton who actually wanted to cherish and protect her without being a psycho. It took me a little while for me to like Ashton, but he grew on me. The author showed great talent at dialogue, love scenes, atmosphere, characterization, and emotional turmoil.

Sarah Puckett's performance is really high quality. Her voice for the heroine is beautiful and sultry. Her men's voices are very masculine and believable. The hero's voice is quite sexy. The pacing is usually deliberately drawn out, but action scenes do have the appropriate pacing to feel exciting.

Great story

Kingsley was in an abusive marriage with no way out. She's expected to portray the perfect happy wife in public. At a gala, Adeline offered to help her to escape . The decision had to be immediate.
Kiera/Kingsley found herself with new hair, new identity, new location. She meets Ashton , as she was dropping off legal papers at his firm. He was intrigued by her, no woman ever has turned him down for a date. That was the beginning of him pursuing her. She felt the heat/electricity between them! she reminds herself , make no friends, don't get close, don't fall in love.
Ashton eventually breaks down her defenses and she goes out with him. He feels there us something she not telling him. I love how protective he was of her, sensing that there was someone in her past that hurt her. The story is full of romance, hidden truths, mystery, lies.
Sarah Puckett narration is phenomenal. She is a master storyteller giving life and emotions to all the characters.

WOW, just WOW

I received this audiobook free, as an Audiobook Obsession Reviewer, for an honest review. This was an awesome book. The story from the first word until the end kept me on the edge of my seat. I felt like I was there with Kinsley running from her monster of a husband. And then the hero arrives. I was counting on Ashton to save Kinsley. Not disappointed. The narrator has become one of my favorites. She does a wonderful job with the characters. This would have been a wonderful book for two narrators or a duet. Can't wait for the next book to be available.
