Summary

Imperium Secundus lies revealed as a heretical folly. Terra has not fallen, though it remains inaccessible. Sanguinius, Guilliman and the Lion El’Johnson, the primarchs of the Triumvirate, must reach Terra at all costs. They seek to defend the Emperor and to atone for their sins.

But the Ruinstorm, a galaxy-wide maelstrom of chaos, hides the Throneworld from the primarchs. Now the fleets of three Legions depart Macragge, and the primarchs will stop at nothing to overcome the Ruinstorm. Yet an insidious enemy watches their every move, and plots against the weaknesses of the errant sons of the Emperor. Each has his own inner storm, and each marches towards his own ruin.

One of the best in the HH series

I enjoyed this one thoroughly, in my opinion it's one of the best books in the series so far. The plot is advanced and even though most of what happens is known to any that are familiar with HH lore, it's written well and is exciting.

One of the few I would listen to again.

Excellent story, bringing major characters together in one of the many pivotal moments of the HH. Disheartening to hear the fate of Curz, but the execution was full of emotion and redress. A solid part of the series.

Tragic ending

Felt quite sad when the three realise they have to go there separate ways in the war.

Much more like it!

After the droll pointlessness of Tallarn, this book (Rainstorm) finally felt like we were being thrust back into the narrative of war and the path back to Terra!
we'll written and brilliantly narrated.

Another masterpiece

Great story, characters are powerful but what I loved is seeing them struggle, argue and yet come together as true brothers to reach our beloved Emperor. Just another great book in the magnificent HH series

More meaningful than expected

I didn’t know what to expect but I was very pleased with the intelligence of the antagonists and how the heroes and villains seek to outwit each other. Much grander in scale than I was expecting. It has the same tone as Fear To Tread, one of my favourite Horus Heresy novels. Roboute is witty (better off after leaving his granny behind) and Curze is given much-needed sympathetic portrayal.
