Summary

The side-splittingly hilarious new book from Sunday Times best-selling author, rugby icon and stag do in human form James Haskell.

It’s 2021, and James is at a crossroads. His glittering international rugby career that took him from England to New Zealand and France - including 77 caps for England - is over. What will he do now? What is his purpose in life?

In Ruck Me!, James sets out on a voyage of self-discovery speaking to ex-colleagues, friends and family, reflecting on his career and diving into some of his most memorable personal anecdotes to date. But what started out as a search for understanding and meaning soon turns into a - let’s face it, sometimes warranted - chastisement opportunity with James directly in the firing line. Turns out he has a lot of work to do....

As funny as it is outrageous, this brilliant book acts as a lesson on how (not) to retire gracefully and move forward. And ruck me - you won’t want to miss it.

Rucking Good Book

I raced through this (as did James’ narration!), thoroughly enjoying the journey and update from the larger-than-life character that is James Haskell. Have to say though a lot of what James seems to worry (?) about is the typical male cycle of react-remorse-reflect, or something near that anyway. Hugely entertaining and great stuff.

Honest and Engaging

I love rugby and sport books and this was one of the best. It was one of the most honest and engaging books I have listened to. James was putting the record straight about his sometimes misunderstood character. He showed that he is a great example of an elite sportsman who is grounded and real in all he does. I would thoroughly recommend this book to all.

If you liked What a Flanker you’ll love this

More honest funny stories from Hask! It’s rare you’ll find an autobiography with as much real insight into life as a rugby player, even for a non ‘rugby nause’ you’ll love the stories and entertainment from one of rugby’s biggest characters.

Haskell has done it again!

I jumped straight on “Ruck Me” once I had finished “What a Flanker” I just wanted to hear more! Honestly am saddened that there isn’t a third book to follow.

If a third book does emerge, I will download it in a heartbeat!
